Good product, fair priced
I use these to support two additional beams I installed perpendicular to my floor joist in my crawl space. They are not holding up the weight of the house as if they were on a main beam, the 4x6 poplar wood beams that I installed are mainly to stop some deflection in my floor. For that these supports are working fantastic! I especially liked the sturdy construction of them and the quality of construction. That said I highly recommend this product.

They do the job if I do mine.
I really don't like my house settling. I really don't like having to crawl through my crawl space and set up these supports. I don't enjoy having to hold the pieces together while I tighten the threads to hold everything in place. It does seem they could attach the top piece onto the threaded bolt, but no brand of supports I have found does. I know I could attach the upper bracket to a floor joist with a hammer and nail, but somehow when I'm lying on my back in the crawl space after squeezing in through the opening, I never seem to have a hammer and nail with me. These supports hold. That's the positive thing from these. They work. Once in place , If I have supported it properly and got it straight up and down on a joist, this jack post will stay there and hold so that I don't have to go through all this again. Some reviews complained the metal of the tube was too light. I have no problem with mine. I'm only holding up one end of a brick house with mine. Maybe they \are trying to hold up an entire stone castle, That might take more than two. Good jacks, Could be better. Best I could find locally or on Amazon.

Simple solution to a heavy problem.
I used these to reinforce my floor where a large aquarium would be placed. I wanted something cheap and simple and these fit the bill. The plates are not connected in any way to the posts, they just rest in place. This isn't an issue once tension is applied, however it can be a bit of a balancing act when placing them. An extra pair of hands or some ingenuity would help here.In my case I used a 2x6 cut into a square for the bottom support plate to screw into, then placed a 4x6 support beam (held up by automobile jack stands while I installed these floor jacks), positioned the floor jack posts where I needed them and held the plates in place while finger tightening the jack post until the beam was flush against the floor. Then I secured the plate into the beam with screws, and raised the post the rest of the way using an open box wrench until I was satisfied with the amount of tension.I wouldn't worry about welding the plates to the jack. That might actually weaken the metal plates if you don't know what you're doing. Once installed and properly tensioned, it would take a lot of lateral force to knock these jack loose.

Worked perfect in adding stability to deck section
We removed the old hot tub from our deck and covered the opening with 4x4 beams and 2x8 boards. We used the jacks to give firmness and take most of the load. If the deck gets wobbly in the future, easy to re-adjust. (Even posts in cement might settle.)Note these do not provide any lateral stability. Suggest the jacks be used, as in our case, where if they fail, no structure is at risk of collapse. (Even if jacked entirely in the air, 2x4 inside each corner prevent it from sliding.)

Perfect for what I needed.
Had a wooden beam with a small crack in it, I used the post to take some of the load of it and I sistered the beam. It worked as it was supposed to. I ever left it as an added support. It was easy to assemble and very strong.

Quality Product
This support post was very easy to assemble. So far I'm very pleased and I think it will do the job. I believe it's worth the price I paid for it.

I took a chance and wasted my time
As many have stated about these jacks, mine arrived with two pieces of pipe and absolutely no other parts. I took a gamble as I didn't find any alternatives that seemed more promising, but I was disappointed when it arrived incomplete. I will add though that there was no damage to the packaging in my case, so there's no blaming it on getting lost in shipping. This was simply packaged without most of it's necessary parts.
