Corelle Square 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Pure White, Service for 4

I have always envied my mother's willingness to put her 20+ year old Corelle dishes on the table. Granted, I thought the pattern was hideous, but there is something to be said for having a complete set of dishes that old which still look new. My old, expensive, heavy dish set was missing a few pieces, and quite scratched up. I like to set a trendy, modern table, so imagine my surprise when I considered---and bought---Corelle! The set is modern looking, but could look good on any table with different linens and flatware. The size and shape of the dishes are pleasing. They fit well in the dishwasher. They do not look cheap. They're guaranteed not to break or chip for 3 years. They are resistant to utensil marking. I don't get that "watching-a-potential-car-wreck" look on my face when my daughter clears the table with these light-weight, chip-resistant dishes. Perfect. Thank you, previous Amazon reviewers, for letting me know about the cheap coffee cups. As others have stated, the coffee cups are Chinese-made porcelain, and do not exactly match the set. That's fine with me, they can go straight to Goodwill, as I have coffee cups which I like, and I don't usually serve coffee with dinner. If you are looking for matching coffee cups, you may want to look elsewhere. I hope this review helps. I'm going to order a third set now!

When we moved I gave up a great set of white (heavier) dinnerware that I loved/bought at Williams Sonoma. When we got to our new home I wanted dishware that was still white (as food looks appealing on white) -- and durable but lighter (stoneware is too heavy). This Corell set is very modern (square plates) - light but strong. Food looks great served on it - and it fits in the dishwasher. Since we live in a desert environoment - water is a factor. You can fit alot of these dishes in the dishwasher - plus for storing, they do not take up much space. I love this set so much - I bought one for our grown up kid who just moved to a new apt. and they all love the set too. This is a great dinnerware set - the plates are nice looking on a table - yet strong and can take even being dropped. We love them.

First, a few comments on other reviews. (1) Yes, Corelle is breakable -- most everything in the world is. However, with normal use, the dishes should last quite a while. If you threw your plate or saucer against a hard surface, it would probably break or chip. Again, throwing dishes is not normal use. (2) Yes, things break in shipment. In fact, one of the square bowls was shattered when I received my box (Amazon did NOT do a good job with packaging -- I will agree with another reviewer on that). However, I e-mailed Corelle using their online form and they are shipping me a replacement bowl at no charge. It does not hurt to ask, but one does need to be patient. It's been two weeks and I just heard back from the company. (3) The coffee mugs are a slightly different color than the plates and bowls. Big deal... I, personally, ordered the set for the other items, and the coffee mugs probably will not be used often, as coffee is typically drank after a meal when the plates have been removed from the table. So far, I'm rather satisfied with this set of dinnerware. Like many others, I grew up with various versions of Corelle, and it's nice to see the company still offers quality dinnerware at a decent price.

I have searched high and low for quality dishes. I have had stoneware sets in the past and every time I would use the new set, I would chip a plate from the dishwasher or see a chip some where on the set. I got so sick of these types of dishes that my daughter suggested the Corelle dishes, as she had a set and LOVED them! I soon started researching these dishes and saw there were many patterns and styles to choose from. I decided that white goes with anything and you can always dress them up with colorful napkins, napkin rings and tablecloths. I received my dishes and just love them! They are so simple yet so elegant and the new square design looks so sleek. I would highly recommend these dishes and remember......white can be elegant yet casual too. One thing nice is if you break one piece, Corelle has been around forever. You can always get a replacement or add onto your set. Also, Amazon site gave the best price around...I have been around the town shopping! I purchased 3 sets for service for 12 and got the BEST price.

I became a fan of Corelle when my husband had an old set at the time we were married. I had newer, prettier dishes, but we gravitated toward using his old set of Corelle because they are so strong, yet lightweight, and very easy to clean. After 8 years of marriage, and getting our kitchen remodeled, I decided to donate the dishes we don't use, and invest in some new, updated Corelle. I had read the reviews about the mugs, but ordered despite that based on my experience, thinking "how bad could the mugs be?" They are okay and usable, and I would not be embarrassed, but I agree that they do not match in color. I don't understand why Corelle couldn't make these in the same material. That's my only gripe and why the 4 stars. If these are your only dishes, you may want to think twice, but we usually serve guests on our china.

We liked this set so much that we purchased two (2) of them. First, it's nice to know that they are not easily broken. Second, they are microwaveable and dishwasher safe. Third, the modern square design is not only very appealing to the eye, but it also has other practicle uses. For example, the dishes are more secure in the dishwasher, liquids don't slide off as easily and, if you use a water dispenser on a refrigerator (say, for the bowls), the angle of the square makes it easier to put under the dispenser at a corner. Additionally, and I know this might be considered a "no no" at some households, drinking that last little bit of soup or maybe the milk from cereal using the corner of the bowl makes it much easier and less likely for spills. Fourth, the all-white goes beautifully with any decor, unlike a set with a design on it. Fifth, the size of these plates are large enough to be very accommodating for a variety of foods...just perfect. In prior sets we have owned, the dinner-sized plates did not easily fit an entire dinner and the lunch-sized plates could barely hold a lunch. These plates are big enough to a good sized dinner or lunch. There is another all-white set by Corelle that is round in shape, but the sizes of the mugs and dishes were smaller, which confirmed the choice on this set even more. We had another Corelle set that we have had for years, and it is very durable. Very nice set.

*2024 Update* - nearly 12 years later, still going strong. Love that they’re light weight, easy to clean, and still look new. Originally bought for our rental, liked them so much replaced our heavy Gibson dishes at home with this set as well. Very pleased w/ the cupboard footprint- we have shallower cabinets and this set works very well in with our limited space. I worried about purchasing these on-line given the perils of shipping a fragile product. Sure enough, out of the three boxes we received contained 1 shattered lunch plate. I immediately emailed the company's customer service dept (there were fliers w/contact info in each box) explaining the situation and within 48 hours received a response saying they would be happy to send me a replacement free of charge. Love the dishes and the service!

I ordered 3 sets of these and love them! They are great looking and I really like how easily they stack, as well as the size of the plates and bowls. The mugs are stoneware and feel solid and are also a very nice size for morning coffee. I would have prefered they were made out of the same material as the plates but I knew they weren't when I ordered them, so I can't complain too much. None of my sets had any damage upon delivery, so no complaints there. I originally wanted a set with a nice print on it but noticed that many of the designs on Corelle printed plates don't seem to line up properly. Since I am totally anal about such things I decided plain white would make me happier overall, and I was right. They are a bit pricey compared to other dishes but my husbands family has been eating off the same corelle for nearly 30 years, and my stoneware dishes chipped non-stop and lost their glaze after about 10 years. I decided to stop being so cheap, buy a Corelle set that was classic enough that in 20 or 30 years I wouldn't be embarassed by an outdated design, and this set fit the bill.

You just can't beat bright white dinnerware. It goes with every decor. The square shape is very modern, and the rounded edges keep it from being too ostentatious. There isn't really an alternative to Corelle either, nothing else is strong, thin, and light. They only make one plain white square set, so these are really the only plates you'll ever need. The square versions also have much more surface area than the round; the bowls are actually usable.

Teller und Schüsseln sind auch so, wie man es von Corelle erwartet: sehr leicht, robust, platzsparend. Soweit top. Der Haken – und leider der Dealbreaker: Die vier Tassen sind nicht aus dem leichten Corelle-Glas, sondern aus Porzellan/Stoneware und dadurch spürbar schwer. Das komplette Paket war bei Lieferung überraschend schwer – erst beim Auspacken wurde klar, warum. Fürs Wohnmobil ist das Gewicht ein echtes Thema (Zuladung!) und dazu sind Porzellantassen bruchanfälliger als Vitrelle. Genau deshalb wollte ich ja ein einheitlich leichtes & robustes Set. Warum ich die Darstellung irreführend finde: • Auf Verpackung und Produktbildern wirkt es, als wäre das gesamte Set „Corelle-typisch“. • Der Hinweis, dass die Becher „Corelle Coordinates – Porcelain Mug“ sind, ist nur sehr klein dargestellt. In der Online-Artikelbeschreibung ist dieser Punkt leicht zu übersehen bzw. teilweise gar nicht klar formuliert. • Der prominente Slogan „Say goodbye to chips & cracks“ passt für Teller/Schüsseln – für die Porzellantassen aber eben nicht in dem Maße. Pro (für Teller/Schüsseln): • Sehr leicht und stapelbar • Im Alltag erstaunlich robust (ideal für Camper) • Neutraler, zeitloser Look Contra (für Tassen): • Schwer (unnötige Zuladung im Wohnmobil) • Bruchanfälliger als Corelle-Glas • Nicht klar kommuniziert, dass sie nicht aus Vitrelle sind Fazit: Wer – so wie ich – ein komplett leichtes Corelle-Set erwartet, wird enttäuscht. Teller und Schüsseln sind super, aber die Porzellantassen sind Gewichts- und Materialbruch in einem Set, das ich wegen seiner Leichtigkeit gekauft habe. Für Camper absolut unpraktisch. Ich würde mir wünschen, dass Amazon/Seller glasklar (am besten im Titel!) darauf hinweist: „Becher aus Porzellan/Stoneware, nicht Vitrelle“ – oder eine Variante mit leichten Corelle-Bechern anbietet. Empfehlung an Käufer: Wenn euch Gewicht & Bruchsicherheit wichtig sind, bestellt Teller/Schüsseln separat und sucht euch leichte Becher (Corelle/Vitrelle oder dünnwandiges Kunststoff/Emaille) extra dazu. So vermeidet ihr genau diese Überraschung.

Das Produkt wird beworben mit: "Corelle Geschirr-Set Pure White aus Vitrelle-Glas für 4 Personen 16-teilig, splitter- und bruchfest, weiß." Leider habe ich dann beim Auspacken gemerkt, dass die beigefügten Tassen aus Porzellan sind und dementsprechend auch ihr Gewicht haben. Im Gegensatz zu den Tellern und den 4 Schalen steht bei den Tassen Made in China, während die anderen Artikel Made in USA sind. Leider wird nirgends darauf hingewiesen, dass es sich bei den beigefügten Tassen nicht um Tassen aus Corell-Glas handelt, sondern nur um einfache Porellantassen. Bin nicht bereit über 100,- € für ein SET zu bezahlen, dass nicht vollständig aus Corelle-Glas besteht.
