excellent case
I purchased this for a friend that has knives. It worked out perfectly. The quality is much better than the cheaper ones that you may find. If you have valuable folding knives this is the case to get don't waste your time on anything cheaper. It is both secure an excellent for preventing damage to your knives. Also if you are like my friend and just keeping your valuable knives in a box in the original packaging then you know how much space that takes. This thing is compact and easy to throw in a safe.

Good for home storage of folding knives but not easy to see which knife is in which slot
I like maxpedition quality and have a few of their products. I have a number of folding knives and hey are now all in this case except for those I EDC or travel with. So far I like this case and it is good to have all the knives in one place, but it is sometimes not easy to know which knife is in which slot as the pockets are quite deep. This I suppose is not a really big issue but it does decrease the utility of the carry case for me.

So many things to like on this but one flaw kills it for me...
Really this is a nice case in so many ways. The ruggedness and usability that MaxPedition customers are used to will get here along with that MaxPedition price tag. ;) Though I don't mind spending money for build quality and function at all, I am surprised no one has complained about the liner used. This gray fluff is very soft on the knives but so soft it lints and sheds horribly. The in between the handle scales of my folders look like they've been in the dust bin of my dryer. Little fur deposits all over the place and in crevices I can only blow out with pressurized air or take apart the knife to get to have become the bane of my existence. For EDC folders, this may be no big deal if you maintain your blades really well but for collector knives I would say don't buy this. If you store a clean knife and expect it clean when you pull it back out you'll be disappointed.

It is pronounced DOE-DEKA-POD...LOL
Why did I give the Maxpedition Dodecapod 12-Knife Carry Case 4 stars?Well to start off I have been eyeing the Dodecapod for a while now and have wanted to buy it but I didn't want to pay the premium price tag requested for what seemed to me at the time as a basic knife case. However I received a plethora of Amazon gift cards for Christmas and finally decided to commit. I click buy and three days later its in my mailbox. Can't say enough about Amazon and the shipping. Anyways lets get to the point. I open the box up and I have my first ever piece of Maxpedition 1000 denier nylon product in all its glory. I opened it up and I was surprised how rigid it is and how tough the whole construction of it is. This thing is overkill on steroids. There is no way any knife is getting damaged inside of this. Also the strength it takes to peel the velcro or hook and loop fastener apart is incredible. It makes me think that this isn't something I will be opening and closing on a daily basis. It almost seems as though its built for long term storage rather than everyday use. I am very impressed with the case itself but I don't think the price is justified. I see my knife collection growing further in the future but I can't imagine a whole closet full of Dodecapod's to accommodate said collection. I think my next purchase might just be a pelican box that can hold 20-30 knives. However if you have the money and your on the edge whether or not to buy this case, I say just go for it. You wont be disappointed with it by any means but your not going to be jumping up and down feeling like this is the best $48 dollars you ever spent.

A little more costly than some but a quality product and worth the extra price
I was looking over some of the knife wraps and cases and came across this one. It looked like a quality product, though it was a bit more expensive than some of the others. I am willing to pay for quality and I am so glad I chose this case. It has very strong velcro closures and 12 slots for folding knives. The interior is like a soft felt material so you don't have to worry about your knives being scratched. The slots on the ends are a bit bigger than the others so you can put your larger knives in them. I loaded it with 12 knives and it works great. There is also a velcro enclosure on the inside flap for the interior storage compartment that ensures those knives won't slip out when you open it up. This case is ideal for travel and storage or just taking your knives to a friend's house to show them off. You won't be ashamed to carry your knives in this case. I am very pleased with the quality of this product and if you love knives like I do and need a quality case to carry or store your quality knives, I would highly recommend this case.

Not very spacious
The way the case folds up leaves little room for knives to be placed in the sheaths with their belt clips. So you have to instead tuck the knife all the way into the sheath and then you can't see them as well. The whole thing doesn't have as much room as you might think. It might be better as a knife ROLL instead of a folding case.

Buy it.
The best thing you could get for your knife collection besides knives. I've owned other Maxped gear and this is made with the same level of awesomeness.Nothing is sub-par with this case. The stitching is solid, the velcro is crisp and secure, the lining is soft and luxurious enough for my Benchmades and Mcustas.Worth noting; the end pockets are pretty big. I keep a Leatherman Charge in one, a full size Benchmade Skirmish(Google it, it's a big knife) in another, a Falkniven DC4 in the third, and a Benchmade multi-tool in the fourth. All the pockets are really deep. My Mcusta Tactility doesn't even come close to peeking out, but at the same time it's easy to get everything out of their pockets.Very pleased. Plus it's Maxped which means lifetime warranty.
