Mysterious box
I picked up the 60A for review even though I have no expectation of pushing that much current, I was however interested to see this MPPT in action. After trying it out, I'm seeing action but not actually sure if it is MPPT, I'll just have to trust it on that. I say this because when it is working, there is limited information available about exactly what it is doing... is bucking the power from the panel down to find a sweet spot... is it boosting it up... can it even boost it up to continue charging in suboptimal conditions? With a limited LCD display and no PC interface it is working as something of a black box, I can see a snapshot of the current from panel to battery if I use the buttons, but I can't leave it on that screen (it goes back to the main screen after a few seconds). I know it is working, the battery voltage is going up, but it would have done that even I'd just hooked a panel a diode straight to the battery. One big thing this does have over a more 'rustic' hookup is the battery management, with seperate voltages for load off, load recovery and charging stop easily configurable via the buttons making it suitable for a variety of batteries. My first adjustment was to bump up the charge stop voltage to 14.6 as is suitable for my LiFePo battery. I put my panel outside on a day which should be perfect for MPPT, a mixture of sunshine and cloud resulting in constantly changing available power from the panel. It has now gone fully overcast but this thing is stil putting a decent amount of current to the battery, whatever the magic it is doing is, it appears to be working.

Not beefy enough for 60A
I also said this doesn't seem like it's actually an mppt charge controller nor will it be able to take a load of 60 amps. Circuitry inside of it is just too small. However, one thing I will counter are the reviewers with is that the terminals are large enough to fit a 6mm² ferrule in, and that there is sufficient spacing between the terminals for all the cables to go in without issue. You might have some trouble doing cable management below it if you're using nailing cable clips for each conductor, but in terms of physically fitting into the device, it's not an issue. The charge controller seems to use the metal back plate via some thermal pads for heat management. Although the thermal pads aren't actually properly adhered to the casing, so the heat transfer is going to be very minimal. There are guides included and it's quite obvious on the imprinting of the plastic casing which order you need to connect the battery, solar power and inverter. It is a nice charge that it's got the USB ports on the outside, although they don't put out a great deal of power and it's only a couple of amps so you won't be fast charging your phone via those. I wouldn't expect any sort of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or sigbee connectivity at this price point. It is a very basic device. You have to look at the screen in order to see what's being produced. You can't expect to be able to look on your phone and see the results via an app. It does function. It does put a charge into a cellular batteries but there is no way that this would be able to take 60 amps of current. It's just not got big enough traces and conductors. It would end up causing a fire if you tried. At the time you refuse the controller is £20, which for this style of controller is probably a little bit expensive, considering I cannot verify that it is truly mppt rather than pwm.

EXCELLENT FULLY FEATURED PRODUCT
I recently picked up the 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. Read the instructions, make sure you understand electrical circuits. Nicely made.
I have wired this into a small off-grid 12V setup (shed lighting and device charging off a leisure battery). The auto 12V/24V detection seems to work as advertised, as it picked up the battery type without any manual configuration, which takes one variable out of the installation and setup. The LCD display is clear and gives you pretty much all of the information you actually want at a glance: charging status, voltage, and load draw. The dual USB ports are also a handy bonus for topping up small devices directly off the panel. The one thing knocking it down a star is the terminal spacing.. If you're replacing an existing controller, don't assume your current cable runs and lugs will drop straight in; you may need to adjust. Once wired up properly, though, it's been reliable and easy to leave alone, which is exactly what you want from a charge controller. Overall, not too complicated to set up and use as long as you have a basic understanding of electrical circuits. Pretty good value for the spec at this price, and allows a simple solar setup to be configured with only basic tools and almost minimal (although not zero) knowledge.

Probably not MPPT. For budget PWM charger it works well. Just don't stick 60A through it.
Luckily, I am only using this to keep lead acid batteries in the garage topped up with a smallish solar panel which doesn't even come close to 10A let alone 60A. For this purpose, the controller is very good and has more features and a better display than my previous controller. For example, this one gives me ambient temperature and the solar panel input amps. It is fairly easy to install and connect you just need a screw driver really. It has 3 connectors, solar panel input, battery connection and load connection. I would only use the load connection for the 12v lights in the garage. The USB sockets are a handy addition. Experience and research tell me that the marketing of this controller is suspect. This is almost certainly not an MPPT controller and it is very doubtful that it would survive 60A. Not only is this deceptive but it is also potentially dangerous. Apart from the Amazon listing itself, there is nothing on the box, in the manual or on the device itself to indicate that these specifications are correct. This is likely to be a PWM controller which is a small step up from the most basic models due to the display and extra temperature and panel current sensing. As PWM controllers go it is probably not great value for money because the simplest models can be found for half the price of this in the same market place. This does charge my batteries and I am able to set the charging parameters and monitor activity. I can't recommend it however because it appears to be listed as something far more sophisticated and usually far more expensive.

Likely a PWM charge controller rather than MPPT
Arrived. Firstly, I very much doubt this is an MPPT charger controller and I also doubt it can handle anything close to 60 Amps of current, in fact I would be very cautious using this device with loads exceeding 10 Amps. I cannot tell exactly what power rating this controller actually has as the components on the rear of the circuit board have been sanded and their information markings removed (this is the norm on devices such as this) I’ve been messing around with solar for years, I have used both PWM and MPPT charge controllers and this example looks like, is priced like and is manufactured like a run of the mill generic PWM charge controller. When you open a MPPT charge controller up, especially a high current example you’ll see large inductor coils and also a bank of high capacity capacitors, these are all missing from this charge controller which leads me to the assumption that this is in fact PWM and not MPPT. Its also feather light That being said I have tested this with a 100w solar panel and it charges a battery fine though I would not trust the load side of the controller with anything close to 10A worth of loading – if you need a high current connection, take it directly from the battery and leave this for charging only and powering USB devices. It has a decent screen and also temperature compensation, its not all bad. I’ve given it three stars because it functions fine, is fairly easy to use and it’s not outrageously priced (at the point of reviewing)

Great functional MPPT tracking, but the plastic casing feels a bit cheap
Wiring up an off-grid 12V solar system to run some lighting and keep small devices charged down in my shiplap shed required a regulator I wouldn't have to constantly babysit. Installing this 60A MPPT controller was incredibly straightforward thanks to the auto 12V/24V recognition. It immediately detected the lead-acid leisure battery I'm running and got to work. The LCD screen is crisp and makes monitoring the system status or fine-tuning the voltage cutoffs very easy. The standout feature internally is the smart memory; if the battery happens to drain completely over a long stretch of cloudy weather, it retains all the custom parameter settings without requiring a frustrating reprogramming session. Electronically, it performs exceptionally well, but the physical construction leaves a little to be desired. Having spent years in product design, the exterior plastic housing feels noticeably brittle and lightweight for a unit rated to handle 60 amps. While it hasn't failed, a more robust, preferably metal, casing would inspire a lot more confidence for long-term durability and better heat dissipation. That said, the integrated dual USB ports on the front are a massively convenient addition, allowing me to plug my phone in directly for a fast charge while I'm out in the garden working. Despite the slightly underwhelming shell, the actual 3-stage charge management is flawless. It cycles through the charging phases effectively and gives me total peace of mind with the built-in short-circuit, low voltage, and overcurrent protections safely managing the battery life. As long as it is securely mounted on a wall where it won't take any accidental knocks from heavy tools, it serves as a highly intelligent and reliable hub for a DIY off-grid energy setup.
