Review: A must-have - This book is fantastic. I purchased this book to prepare me for my College Algebra course this Summer and feel I am well-prepared. All of the problems in this book have clear, concise explanations. There are enough practice problems to gain skill by repetition. The Precalculus Demystified book is written by the same author and I purchased it to prepare me for my Fall semester of taking Precalculus. I am glad I found this series of books. Review: Excellent! - Of all the self-study math book,s I find the Demystified series to be the most useful. There are step by step answers to all examples and all practice problems. I notice that some reviewers stated there were no answers to the quiz problems. My book includes answers to all quizzes and the final exam, which covers about 3 pages in the back of the book. Keep in mind that all quizzes are multiple-choice, so what's in the answer section just lists the "letter" of the answer (ABCD). Not much help, you're thinking, if you can't figure out how they got that answer. However, my strategy has been, if I'm stumped by how a quiz problem is solved, I can go back in the chapter and almost always find a solved problem with exactly that configuration, which I can use as a template to solve the quiz problem. I would recommend, for anyone looking at self study math books, that you take advantage of the "look inside" function so you can see how the problems are laid out and whether that particular teaching method speaks to you. That's been the most helpful to me in selecting which book to purchase.

Good but make sure which chapters will be needed for CLEP
Comprehensive for the subject, however, not the best for a crash course for CLEP. It covered more than CLEP needed, which isn’t helpful for students who need help determining which specific chapters would be in the test. It is a good book offering detailed overview nevertheless.

She found it easy to understand and actually learned some concepts that were ...
Daughter needed to take the CLEP College Algebra exam. She had taken up to CC Math3 or Algebra 2 by Sophomore year of high school, and took some pre calc, but was in AP Stat this year. She picked up the book about two weeks ago and worked daily to get through it. She found it easy to understand and actually learned some concepts that were poorly taught to her the first time around. She said it did a good job of explaining concepts step by step. She passed the test with a higher score than needed. She wishes she would have had it earlier in high school and thinks it would be helpful for both high school and preparation for CLEP.

Excellent. Math: Simplified.
Excellent book. This is the book to have if you want to start your road into College Algebra. After completing a chapter I urge you to go through the chapter and do all the practice problems and if you mess up on a problem that's ok, find out why. Then do the chapter quiz, If you get an A move to next chapter and anything below is poor work, do the practice problems again until you can get an A in the quizzes. I love this book as it is sooooooo much simpler than other textbooks. Instead of getting bogged down in the superfluous you get concepts quickly and easily. I am literally blazing through the book.I will certainly buy other books by the same author as she clearly knows what she is doing. If she was my math teacher in grade school I would've discovered time travel, cold fusion, and FTL travel already.

Really good content, unfortunate problems with kindle edition.
I’ve taken algebra before and so, for me, the content is at just the right level. However, I purchased the Kindle version so that I could study anywhere and not have to carry the book around. Unfortunately I’m finding it very difficult to use because distorted equations appear on almost every page. Many of the equations have been scanned directly from the book and appear as images interlaced with the text. That’s OK, but on almost every page there a few that are so distorted they look like smudges on the page. If you double-tap them just right, a new window will open up with the undistorted scan of the equation displayed. You need to close the window to continue. It is a hinderance and I hope the publishers consider providing an update.

This is book was sent from heaven for college algebra class. If you’re struggling in the class look no further you’ve came to the right place. Great material listed in details in which I needed.

very helpful book
i managed to work my way through the first ten chapters of this 12-chapter book, without help, so i would say that the book has done all that it was meant to do. my only complaint is that the book doesn't do a really great job of providing a larger, clarifying context -- how one section relates to the other, how content is related to real-world experience, or even to other levels of math. because i have to proficiency out of a college algebra course, i will be working my way through the book a second time, to gain a better understanding of these things. i'm hoping that this will help me to better recognize the nature of a problem immediately out of context, such as in an exam. i think this is a pretty common problem with math textbooks, so i stress that in the immediate context of each section, the book explains step by step in a clear manner how to tackle each task at hand, so it's been a very helpful aid to me in ultimately achieving my goals.

Good value for money
I love the format of the demystified series, in fact i own most of them. This was a good brush up on a long forgotten subject. Oh well, next on to trigonometry!
