5 Redhead Temper Stars
Dark Fire the 6th book in the Dark Series was amazing! This was Darius and Tempest's book. Darius is Desari's brother who we met in the last book Dark Challenge. I fell hard for Darius in the last book. He was just so dark, bossy, and lost. He reminds me a lot of my Gregori. I just wanted to save Darius, take away his pain, and see him get his HEA. I had high hopes for this book and it did not disappoint! What is it about these yummy, caveman like Carpathians males that just makes my blood boil. Darius was everything Carpathian, dark, broody, protective, sexy, the total package! But like every good Carpathian male he is putty in his lifemate's hands. Darius had a very sweet side, and he did give his lifemate a little time to get use to everything, which isn't something all Carpathian males do. Some just club her and drag her back to their cave. Not Darius, he took it as slow as he could giving her time to come to terms with all the life changes. Darius was awesome in this book and I would have expected nothing less. What I didn't expect was for Tempest to be so awesome too. Tempest was hot tempered, sassy, playful, funny and very independent. She had a rough life. Use to being alone she was scared to care for someone to only lose them. Tempest did not put up with Darius's bossy ways and Challenged him every chance she got. Tempest was not a stupid heroine, but trouble always seemed to find her.I loved both Darius and Tempest. I laughed a lot in this book. Their back and forth banter was hilarious. They had a great relationship. In this book we get to see the rest of Darius's family again. We get a peek at how good it's been between Julian and Desari in the months since the last book. And in this book Barack claims Syndil as his lifemate. She is not happy about it. There is very little of their relationship in this book so you don't get any real picture of them or their relationship. I wish Christine Feehan would have put a little more of them in this book, maybe gave a little more back story to Barack. It was cute how Darius's whole family laughed at his lifemate giving him a hard time. Dark Fire was a funny, cute easy read and a great addition to the Dark series! I don't know what it is about this series, but I can't get enough of it!

Unequivocally Enchanting
Dark Fire is the 6th installment in the Dark Series by Christine Feehan and it is absolutely fascinating! The book is bursting full of action, suspense, survival, preternatural performance, mystical-exotic healing & other segments of conspiracy, vengeance & the ultimate romance. The series is based upon the almost extinct Carpathian Race - not human but supernatural beings with their own heritage trying to survive & flourish in a world of humans & secreted vampires out to destroy every last Carpathian on the face of the earth. The Carpathians were born of the earth & have survived for centuries living in the Carpathian Mountains in Europe.Darius watched his parents being slaughtered by the Ottoman Turks along with his neighboring village of people - human & Carpathian. The Carpathians stood in the daylight when they were at their weakest trying to protect the humans & went to their death. Darius was already an extremely powerful Carpathian at a tender young age of 6 years old and knew he had to save himself & 5 others close to him. He put a compulsion on a village woman escaping the slaughter & running to her lover's boat. Darius cloaked himself & the 5 children while escaping the carnage. He led the children under "the cloak" of secrecy to the boat where the woman sought refuge with her lover. Darius huddled them close together to keep them safe. Before long a terrible storm came upon them and the boat began to tear apart. Holding an image of a bird in his mind he shape-shifted & forced the image in the minds of the other 3 children while clutching his baby sister Desarae in his talons. He was determined to save them all and held the images with the other 3 children along his side until he found land. Darius was determined to keep the children together. He soon learned that he was in a land called Africa so opposite of his beloved Carpathians Mountains. He believed that his people would come for them soon - but they did not. Darius learned to care for the 5 children (Barack, Dayan, Savon, Syndil & Desarae) by foraging through the forests testing the berries, roots & herbs first before he allowed the others to eat. He soon became proficient in preparing meals for the children at their young ages after testing the berries, fruits, roots, herbs & plants always first & sometimes becoming deathly ill himself. He learned from the land and animals becoming a strong formidable Carpathian male. Darius also learned how to take the life- saving blood of humans without killing them & taking full responsibilities for his failures. They all survived.Through the centuries Darius has become the leader & protector of the traveling band "The Troubadours" which travel around the world entertaining & staying veiled from those who plot their demise. Darius & the "5" he rescued have become very powerful & successful. They believe that they were the only Carpathians that survived.Modern technology & travel has become increasingly annoying & more difficult for the band to stay veiled from the intrusive humans & those that hunt them. Now the band has to travel in modern buses & cars. It only makes sense that Desarae put an advertisement in a local paper for a mechanic that is available to travel along with the band. Surprisingly, a young sassy telepathic petite red head responds and at first it looked like it was an answer to all of their prayers - or so it seemed. She is human - but has telepathic abilities that she doesn't quite understand herself. Like her ability to speak & understand animals. Darius discovers her near one of the buses & is almost brought to his knees realizing that without a shadow of doubt "SHE IS THE ONE his life mate"! His ancient heritage signals his soul with the chanting & prayers that the male sings to his mate begin. But she is human - independent & will never allow a man to boss her around. How will it ever work? How will he make her his own? Can she survive his world? Does she feel the same?

The Best in the Series to Date
Dark Fire has been my absolute favorite Carpathian book so far. I am reading these in order of publication so I can only speak for the first 6 books. There was very little in this book that I did not love.If I had to pick something that this book was missing it would be there was no vengeance on Tempests raper. Darius vowed in the book that he would pay for his actions, yet the story didn't show that. However, that was not the main point of this story and it is such a minor detail I can look past it.Since the beginning of reading Dark Prince, Gregori had always been my absolute favorite character. In Dark Challenge I thoroughly enjoyed the character of Darius. By giving Darius his own story Christine Feehan has breathed light into this character on new levels. This book had me laughing more than any other in the series so far. Tempest has been the first female human character that I didn't dislike in one form or another. She was a breath of fresh air compared to the females in previous books.Darius was also a breath of fresh air in regards to the Carpathian males. Unlike the others who have found their lifemates and instantly turn them for their own pleasure Darius was fully content on keeping Tempest a human and pushing aside his own wants and desires. Now this isn't to say he isn't a typical Carpathian male in his domineering and demanding nature. He just seemed to have more control over wanting to keep her safe and not risk anything that could come of her transition. All in all, this has been a phenomenal read and one of the stories I would definitely reread in the future.

Not bad
This is the 6th in the Dark series and it was pretty much the same as the others have been. If you have loved the previous Dark books then this will not disappoint.Personally this series is not a favourite and i continue reading purely because I bought most of them after enjoying Dark Prince and Dark Desire. Since these my interest has unfortunately dwindled and this book hasn't reignited it. The storyline is good and there are plenty of characters around to add some variety but somehow this series doesn't quite do it for me. Lots of good things are there but no spark. I find myself disliking pretty much all the males of the series so far and the women aren't much better. The men are far too arrogant for my taste and the women well... (they need a slap). As usual the man (Darius) spends the whole novel dictating to the woman (Tempest) who fights it (sort of) for a while but then gives in cos he's soo gorgeous blah blah. I don't get it.For me the books have too much description and not enough going on. The characters spend most of their time thinking about their feelings for the other (yawn). Too many slushy endearments and after 6 books I can't stand the phrase "I can do no other...(insert - ensure your happiness, safety, health etc). Also all the women seem to look exactly the same but with different hair - narrow ribcage, tiny waist, full breasts etc and I seriously want one with a bit more personality (they are the same again - little, gentle, wouldn't hurt a fly, feel bad about predator mate killing the people trying to slaughter them all. boring. Give one of them a spine will you.I did like the sub-plot with Barack and Syndil from the last book but it was wrapped up too quickly overall. This was the best part of dark challenge for me and it ended rather suddenly. Plus Syndil seemed grow a spine and see that all the men were arrogant pigs and then it was just over and she accepted it which was a bit naff.Don't let my review put you off if you are an ardent Dark fan. From the other reviews I see im in the minority here but in the off chance someone agrees i would recommend Jr ward or Sherrilyn Kenyon and many more before this series. If you take anything from this review it should be don't buy loads of them in one go.

Trust works both ways
Stupendous. She is a fiery mechanic, who has joined a group of musicians. He is the leader of the group, tall dark and handsome. Who has given up hope of ever finding his soul mate (a woman to keep him from turning feral -a vampire). When they meet he is amazed to find that she is his other half. However she has suffered abuse before and does not trust easily. Will the two ever become one? An attack on her leaves her even more tormented. What future is there for them? A great plot (that many abused women can relate too) and characters that you will fall in love with. I first got a copy of this when it first came out and sadly the copy is now so badly worn that I had to get another.

Good Story
In this book we are told the story between Darius and Tempest. I liked the story because this was not a 'you are mine come with me' and the female dropped everything and followed him.I was intrigued by how Darius was going to cope with Tempest's free spirit and she was a handful at times I felt that Darius was going to go mad and compel her but he couldn't. He who was so used to being obeyed without question in the previous book could not control her.I admired Tempest's spirit and her constant need for her to be her own person and I at times felt sorry for Darius who by his upbringing felt need to protect her from herself and their common enemy. This time the enemy was not a vampire (thank goodness) but the human vampire-hunters who were very devious but no match for the Carpathians. What would have given this story a 5 star rating would have been if they had met their elder brother Gregori.

THE Book to read...
I own and read all Dark Carpathian books by C. Feehan and this is the book I keep going back to regularly. Not sure how many times I read it, but I'm guessing about 25-30 times.Brilliant book...finally a Carpathian who doesn't spout this 'caveman malarkey' like his older brother, Gregori does! Don't get me wrong, I love Gregori, but someone needs to smack him upside his head!Love the fact that Darius is a leader in his own right, and although he is respectful to the prince, even Mikhail cannot make him do anything that Darius didn't decide for himself....Rusty is a perfect match for him!

Stop using the word velvet !!!!
I have been reading this series for a while and some books are better than others. The basis is always the same Carpathian male on the verge of losing it meets female who is his lifemate. Male tells her what to do all the time female fights against it then eventually gives in. Job done. This book is ok I didn't like it as much as some of the others. One thing that bugs the everliving crap out of me Is the author absolutely loves the word velvet. Every book in this series has the word overused to an insane degree to describe everything, lips, voices, darkness, skin, naughty bits, thoughts everything. This book alone has the word velvet in it 48 times.I will carry on reading then because they are quite entertaining but I really would love it if she stopped using that damn word !
