Martin Furniture 4 Drawer File Cabinet, Vertical

Arrived in 100% perfect condition, and I cannot stress enough how important that is for something this large and pre-assembled. The finish is great, and it is very sturdy. Good quality.

Well made and a beautiful item. However, it is not designed for legal documents as advertised!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED

This 4-drawer lateral file cabinet is a good value compared to similar but uglier alternatives. My unit is a dark chocolate brown; looks darker than in the photo, but I am happy about it because it matches more closely to my other furniture. Is "lightly distressed" (dents here and there) on purpose to give it a somewhat faux-antique look. Made from plywood and vaneer (no particle-board) and steel internal rails for holding hanging files. Only one drawer opens at-a-time, for anti-tip-over safety. Also comes with a (somewhat wimpy) tie-strap for fastening to the wall to prevent tip-over in earthquakes or climbing children. Comes with two keys for the top drawer. NOTE: Only the top drawer locks, it does NOT lock all drawers simultaneously like some other file cabinets do. When closing, drawers have a detent such that you get a haptic feedback when fully seated. Shipped with the handles installed inside-out to prevent damage during shipment; you have to uninstall and reinstall them the correct way (use phillips-head screwdriver). Otherwise comes fully assembled. I am very happy as it will meet my needs and looks great.

Very attractive piece, but after removing it from it's packing crate, I had to find a hammer in order to remove the entire back and reattach it (It was attached crookedly). Kind of makes the concept of using a key to lock the top drawer a little bit pointless.

This file cabinet is well made and what I wanted. However, the color is way off and didn't blend with my desk. The color shown is not correct. It is very red. Sadly, I had to return it.

I am sad to have to give this product two stars. It is an absolutely gorgeous piece of furniture and it appears to be quite sturdy. But the first unit came with a misaligned trim piece on the bottom that interfered with the drawer movement. The replacement unit came with an unacceptable cosmetic defect. It may be that the shipping materials do not adequately protect the product or perhaps they actually shipped defective products. Either way, manufacturer needs to improve their quality control and/or shipping materials.

I bought this lateral file cabinet back in November 2022 for $725. I thought it was beautiful, but I found that it is not functionally working at all. The lateral file drawers will not open wide enough to take a 8 1/2 x 11 file out of the drawer without some hard work. In essence, it doesn’t open to 11 inches wide for the lateral file to exit properly. I have tried to contact the vendor, but have never had any success on remedy this problem. Do not buy. You cannot access your files, conveniently!

It comes pretty much assembled so that was nice. Is it dark? Yes. But I find it on the darker end of cherry, but still cherry. Very well made & holding drawers full of files with no issues. If your file stick up a little higher because of the hanging file, it can accommodate it without any issue.
