Hydronix FLK-14 RO Reverse Osmosis Undersink Filtration System Water Leak Detector Safety Valve

This is the second safety valve I purchased. The first was similar using the expanding discs to soak up water, expand and push against a valve actuator just as this one does. The problem with the other one was that when I had a leak and when the disk soaked up water and when it expanded and pushed the valve actuator, the pressure of the water supply (from my local municipal water system) was a greater force than the spring used to shut off the valve and though the actuator tripped, the internal water valve did not, and I had a huge mess to deal with.This Hydronix version seems to work fine when I manually trip it with my finger. The spring has much greater force and does in fact close off the water when tripped. Fortunately I have not had a "real" test with another leak from the filter system.I placed my entire 7-stage filter system in a plastic tub and installed in the cabinet over the refrigerator. My leak detect safety valve sits in the bottom of the tub so theoretically, most of the sources of a leak should allow the water to pool in the tub and shut down prior to going elsewhere. With my last leak (a slow one) not only did the leak detector valve not work, but I also had a slight tilt to the system and water found a path to drip off the main bracket outside of my tub. I changed that as well when I replaced the leak safety valve.One last comment... Hydronix is the basis of my water filter system (from Weco). The make all the filters (except the UV sanitizer) and manufacture or source all the other components. They are a top notch company in my opinion and to put their name on this valve also gives me greater confidence in the valve.
