Can you use this filter for lower water level tanks such as turtle tanks?

I use this in my 55 gal turtle tank which has about 7" of water in it. I had to tape up the intake pipe joints to reduce air leaks and I had to manually prime the intake line to get it to start but it does work fine once the siphon gets started. I'm going to drill the tank below the water level and convert it to gravity fed because it's a real pain to get started due to the vertical distance the water has to travel to leave the tank.

Can I use this on a 45g reef tank

Yes. I'm putting it on my 55 gallon reef.

Can I use this in a half full tank? I have a 20gallon long breeder tank a little over half full, about 11 or 12 gallons

There is plenty of power in the pump but you will have to make some modifications to the fittings in order to extend the height in the tank. I set mine up for turtles and was able to get the water level 5 inches below the rim with the firings provided.

Will this be good in a 40 gallon breeder tank ? With sand ? Or should I just stick with 2 power filters

I have two of these filters and I use one in a 55 gallon tank with pea gravel and it works perfectly. The other I use in a 100 gallon indoor pond and the water is crystal clear.
