Not breathable and narrow fitting
I chose these walking shoes as i am on my feet for 13 hrs, they are black coloured, which is needed for work purposes, goretex so i thought good for breathability of the feet. I have had Salomon trainers before and found them comfortable, supportive at the heel and arch, so i chose these. I have now had them on for four 13 hr shifts and am very dissatisfied. The toes are extremely hard, no doubt to protect the toes, i do not find them cool to wear whatsover, to the point my feet are very hot and feet and especially at the toes inside, my socks are wet. So breathability is very poor quality, the ties are quite tough to tighten and loosen and fiddly, they are quite a slim fit also. I went for my normal size of 6.5, but i fnd these tight with thin socks on. The design of the shoe almost pushes the toes forward to the point of sqaushing them. For the amount of money paid for them, i am not impressed. I will be sending back as not fit for the purpose they were designed for

AVOID - poor quality - waste of money
i found the product to be alittle bit smaller than normal. (i have been buying salomons for almost a decade) i found the quality to be of a poor standard compared to their other products i have owned in fact it was so bad i contacted them to see if they were fake only to be told after numerous e-mails and photographs that the product was real. The trainer had the quality of a £10 trainer you get from primark basically disposable trainer (1-6 months of use) and for the price i expect more. The sole is wearing much faster than normal i wear them for light use ( casual day to day walking and driving only) and i estimate mines will be useless in 6-8 months also the whole trainer is flimsy and weak no longer feel robust or sturdy I bought another product from them the gortex version which is more expensive and the same poor quality i now see salomons have went down the route of making poor quality footwear and dont care about what they sell or about the customer. I will now give up on salomon and buy another brand, my older salomon footwear are nearing there life after years of wear and have been good but there new products are terrible and a complete waste of money and are of fake poor cheap quality now. And i am not the only one on various forums everyone is stating the same poor quality at this rate salomon will close down or become known for selling crap. I would recommend people avoid buying salomons and spend your hard earned money on another brand

Wow!
First I have to mention that I am a complete beginner, as far as running is concerned. I started rather incidentally a couple of weeks ago, to give my dog more exercise... First, I ran in my hiking boots. They are very good boots, fit perfectly (from Salomon), but they really slowed me down, and I had problems even doing only 2 km! I was afraid running shoes wouldn't give me the support I need at my mature age, but decided to risk it. After a lot of research I bought these shoes, since they are Salomon as well. And I am extremely happy with them. I will have to get used to the fast close thingy, but that doesn't merit a star less. When trying them on, I was afraid they would be too tight and hurt my toes - but this only lasted seconds, and then I felt completely "at home" in them (I chose half a size up from my usual size with this brand, 8.5 instead of the 8 from the hiking boots) and immediately did my first run, along a muddy trail with lots of different surfaces, rather slippery in part. They protected me beautifully. I did 3.5 km with energy to spare and, incidentally, easily broke my former records for 1 km and 1 mile. This speaks for itself! So now let's try doing a run of a decent length one day!

Perfect!
Never intended to spend so much on running shoes but thought about my poor feet and knees which take a good pounding on my runs! These are so comfortable, I ordered half a size up to allow room for feet expansion whilst running. It does feel roomy but at the same time very snug. Very easy to get on and the lace up system is ace, not having to worry about laces coming undone during a run or having to double knot laces in the first place! Perfect for my feet with the ortholite within. If you’re happy to spend a little bit more, I’d recommend!

not the high quality it used to be
I have used this model for 10+ years both for extreme running and everyday shoe. Good for travel in warm places and hiking as well as good ventilation. I would probably go one size up next time from what I thought was my size. An update! The shoes used to last VERY long time like years but the last pair I hardly used and yet after less than 6 months they are ready to throw out as the heal is rubbish and giving me blisters - I guess things are not what they used to be with respect to quality ( I owned more than 5-7 pairs over the time)

I have 5 pairs.
I wish I was joking. One thing is for sure - should there ever be a zombie apocalypse these are the shoes I will hopefully be in. I use them at the gym (pink pair), for hoofing about town on a busy rainy day (black pair), hiking across Ireland (pink and grey pair - oh yes I did), hiking in New Zealand (old black pair) and much more... Just buy them!

Awesome and suitable for so much more than just trail running
Bought before a holiday travelling the National Parks in the U.S. I don't get on with hiking boots and at home I do more running. I wanted something I could use for most of the holiday whatever we were doing. These shoes are brilliant. No blisters - and my feet blister just looking at new shoes. The grip was amazing for clambering around in Yosemite, the dusty desserts and the concrete mountains of San Francisco. They are fairly waterproof although not totally. When it finally really hammered down my feet did start that annoying squelching - but that probably came in over the top so don't go swimming in them! These awesome trainers and when they eventually die I will be buying the same again. I needed a size 5 and I am normally a size 4 but my feet are a little wide.
