... had been waiting a long time for a book like this, and this book fits the bill
I had been waiting a long time for a book like this, and this book fits the bill. For anyone interested in the Indochina war(s),this book is a must. Lots of pictures of uniforms, field gear etc. & most in color. This book illustrates to the max what musthave been a supply/logistics departments nightmare in the dizzying array of uniforms and equipment worn. British, American,French, & locally produced. I had known for a long time that the French in Indochina had used a lot of American uniforms& equipment, but did not realize how vast American influence was on the development of domestic French design once theybegan to produce their on uniforms in France. For example, I knew that American HBT uniforms were used but I didn't realizethat it was distributed to the extent that it was. I also enjoyed looking at the Legion uniforms from the early colonial period ofthe 90s - 1930s period (in color). The only problem I had with the book was that it didn't have much information on what wasprobably the most recognized piece of equipment used by France in Indochina, the ubiquitous bush hat, or "Cheapu de Brusse"Only a handful of pictures are shown, with no interior shots with makers stamping/marks. I would also have liked to have moreinformation on guns/weapons used by The Legion. Bare in mind as well that this book is translated from French & some ofthe phraseology may seem a little "hazy", but that is a minor issue and occurs in any publication that has been translated fromthe original. For anyone interested in the Indochina conflicts this book is a must. There is such a dearth of information in Englishon this subject & this book fills a void! Highly recommend it!

The book is a requisite for anyone seriously interested in the Foreign Legion and their involvement in Indochina. The book is light on weaponry, but there are other books that will cover that topic more rigorously. This book focuses on the equipment and uniforms, and it is a phenomenal resource in that regard. The information is arrayed in a logical format, and it is replete with many photographs.

AWESOME GUIDE TO THE LEGION'S GEAR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA!!!
Absolutely amazing book... As a collector of Vietnam era memorabilia this book is a OUTSTANDING guide to the Legions uniforms and gear. I wish the section on weapons was a little better but as far a helmets, uniforms, and personal gear and items this is a must have.

The definitive resource on all the various uniforms and equipment ...
The definitive resource on all the various uniforms and equipment that found its way into Legion (and CEFEO generally) hands in Indochina. If you're interested in the French Indochina war at all this is a must have for your library.

At Last in English!
Excellent work! For the serious collector, or especially the reenactor, this volume is invaluable. As is mentioned in other reviews, it's light on weaponry, but that is covered in other works quite comprehensively. The photos and comprehensive study of the uniforms throughout the war is the gold standard.I highly recommend this work!

This book is absolutely fantastic. The colour plates, quality of the paper, and research are top drawer. If you love French Indochine, like I do, buy this book.

Photographs abound with a good in depth coverage of uniforms and webbing
A comprehensive, informative book on the uniforms and equipment of the Foreign Legion Units in Indochina. Photographs abound with a good in depth coverage of uniforms and webbing. As a previous reviewer commented however it lacked any detail if the weaponry used. At a time when surplus WW II arms were common place and France's rearmament post war a wide spectrum of weapons were used the book did not reflect this.
