I read this book to my class and they all loved it, it is a very good but for younger kids (5th grade) and gets them very excited to learn about the secrets of the zoo and all about the shadowist!

We read the first book "The Secret Zoo" and it was so good. We were very excited to find it was the first in a whole series. I highly recommend these books for your child!

So far I’ve read book one to my kids. I got so hooked i had to order the second one! My 7 year old loves it!

Book was in great condition. My 11yr daughter was so excited to receive this as a birthday gift. She started reading right away!

The book is name includes “shadows”,but this book has nothing about the shadows really.It stands up for the title secrets but not the shadows.But otherwise I love the book,I have not yet read the next book so maybe most of the shadows come in that book...

I have mixed feelings about these books. My nine year old daughter loved them. But in it, the children are encouraged to lie to their parents. They lie to them throughout this whole book. It’s stereotypical male-hero even though it seems to me the female (Megan) should be the hero figure. I would say read the first book of the Secret Zoo and stop there. The story gets derailed and it just gets very wordy for no reason. It’s like the author was writing just to have material but goes on about nothing. The only reason why I gave this 3 stars is because my daughter liked it.

Well written with nice language and pleasing word choices. Chick creates the Secret Zoo well with fantastic descriptions and great animals. If only we could visit. My sister started us on this series. My nine year old son loves the series and has even talked his school librarian into adding the collection to the school library.

We have just finished book one. Bought for a bedtime story for my 6 and 8 year old. They have loved this book and even went to bed earlier so we could have a few more chapters! I would definitely recommend for both boys and girls.

My daughter loves this series! After reading the first book, she has continued asking me to buy the other books of the series. She is 9 yo.

Our 7&9 year old boys love these books. A great family read
