Fantastic Firepit, Highly Recommend
This portable firepit is great! We're very happy with this item: it's easy to set up, it's sturdy, and best of all we can have a fire anywhere practical. We do a lot of SUVRVing so it's nice to be able to set up a proper firepit in primitive camping areas as well as put the fire where it works best for us. I like that it's off the ground since established firepits are often damp/wet here in the PNW. I agree with other reviewers that noted the heat coming off the bottom is nice for cold feet. For this reason I recommend that a buyer consider getting a welder's blanket to set down (we're happy with our Waylander 24x24 welder's blanket we got here on Amazon, which rolls up and fits nicely in the carry bag) rather than the heat shield, which is about the same cost as the welder's blanket but seems to have mixed reviews. The blanket on the ground will still allow heat to migrate down whereas the heat shield attaches midway up. The added benefit that we found going this route was that we are able to use the underside of the firepit as a place to reheat/roast food. You can stick a cast iron skillet/griddle under there and make quesadillas and the like--we used it to reheat Taco Bell burritos with fantastic, crispy, results (see pic). If you're thinking about getting one, then I'd say go for it. I did a very thorough review of this product before buying and I have a few responses to a some of the review comments: 1) Discoloration: It's a fire pit... it WILL get blemished. Who cares if the screen gets discolored? You're burning wood on it when in use and storing in a bag when not in use so I don't understand the critical reviews about "but it says stainless steel" blah blah blah. Don't go into it thinking it's a magical firepit and you'll be pleased nonetheless. 2) Smoke: again, there is no magic here. Smoke will still blow in your face if that's the direction wind is blowing. Whoever said the smoke will go over your head must've been using it on a still night! Don't get your expectations up. 3) Heat shield: can't really comment here except that the mixed reviews caused me to get a welder's blanket instead, which I'm very happy with. 4) Longevity: we only used a few times so no telling how long it will hold up... I plan to use it somewhat selectively and use only when needed to keep the mileage down, so to speak. All in all I'd like to thank the company for making an excellent product. Thank you!

I am Impressed
First off I bought this for river trips. We have four big river trips planned for this summer all require a fire pan for leave no trace fires. I did my research, extensively, and this one seemed to be the best of all options. I contacted the Colorado Forest Service and did verify this fire pit is accepted on all Forest Service and BLM lands. After looking at this fire pit I will admit I was extremely skeptical at the quality of it. I mean it's hard for me to believe one can have a good fire on a metal screen, but hey weirder things have happened. Anyway I did go ahead and buy it and I will say I was and am completely blown away at how this performs. Everything about this is exactly as it is described by the manufacturer. Its very easy to set up, it will hold a lot of wood, there literally was no ash that came through the screen which docent even seem possible to me. There was a tiny big of ash that was under the fire pit, and I mean a tiny amount I could blow away and you would never know it was there. That ash came from getting in-between the mesh screen and the metal frame and only after a few times of use and being loaded down with wood to where the screen was slightly flared up where it meets the screen allowing a small amount of ash to get blown under it. getting the fire started is very easy, we simply put a ball of dryer lint in the center then built up the fire around that then from underneath the fire pit we lit a match and boom, we had a fire. This is definitely not a compact super light weight fire pit and will not do in a backpacking situation. However for car camping, at your home, a party in the park or on a river canoe/raft trip this bad boy is amazing. On our second canoe trip a mile before out final take out we flipped out canoe on a rapid and we lost our Pop-Up Fire Pit, given up to the River Gods. Once we got home from that trip we got online and ordered another one and this time we also ordered the grill attachment. We're very excited to try out that pup out and grill up some steaks on out next river trip. All in all I would say, as someone who is very skeptical of things that seem too good to be true, this fire pit is the real deal. I wont buy anything else other than this, again unless I was backpacking and weight and space was an issue. If you are reading this that means you're definitely serious about this particular fire pit and I promise you that you will be so stoked you went with this one over another option.

Cools quickly.easy to set up
We used this for a football tailgate GO BILLS!! it was amazing..it was so easy to set up and take down I couldn't believe how fast it cooled down to fold up and pack away before we headed into the stadium...we put a small grill rack on the corner and heated up our dips, made hotdogs...it was perfect!! Big enough and sooo incredible portable!!!

Great product.
This was super easy to set up and break down. Small and compact, light, stores nicely in our camper. Held plenty of wood for burning. Definitely worth it.

Holds up great!
I have had this lil guy for over a year and wanted to get a good feel prior writing. I wasn't initially sure what to expect but it's wonderful! I got it for camping trips where there may not be a fire ring but I find myself using it more at home too! The mesh has held up great and I leave it outside most of the time. I don't overload it and try to put lighter logs on once I get my coals going good with sticks. The last couple weekends I have been burning downed limbs/sticks from recent storms. It is wonderfully light weight and comes with the nice carrying bag as well that is nice for on the go and it breaks down perfectly! I do not have any issue the minimal ash that comes thru the bottom (typically after it rains or I water down the coals). It is wide enough to put logs on and light to move if/when needed. I would definitely recommend! I was not paid for this review.
