Don't think about it, just buy it!!!
To say that the photography and the subjects were amazing, provocative, sexy and powerful is a gross understatement. Black and white is the best for mood and sensitivity and Julian Wasser capitalizes in this format. The cover shot of Steve McQueen made me buy the book without any idea of what I'd find when I opened it up. The other images were equally impressive. Very spiritual how Wasser manages to pull the trigger and capture the soul and personality of each subject. Each page made this very easy to throw 5 stars up there. Images like these are why lots of us go out and buy cameras and shoot till we might get close to one of these shots....

Unspeakably cool!
Fantastic pictures, but some of the captions needed fact checking. The pictures of 14 year old Jodie Foster are dated to 1972, but Jodie didn't turn 14 until 1976, the year of Taxi Driver, which is when the pictures were taken. Also, the picture of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli rehearsing together cannot be from 1972, because Garland died in 1969. In any case, these pictures not only return you to the time and place, but also the golden era of candid black and white photography.

Picture book with history
A fascinating book which every time you look through it you see something different. A fabulous book either to look at by oneself or share with others.

Great photography
Wonderful photos of Hollywood back in the day, plus a very interesting essay by Wasser on the differences between that time and this.
