Unreliable with spotty location reporting
This device is simply just not reliable and is sometimes completely non-functional. I purchase two of these, and I will outline my experience with them in detail here. Of note, I turned the Bluetooth off on my phone for all of this to really make sure I tested the network rather than just letting my phone find the device. The first day I activated one device on long Island in New York and put it on flight mode 2. I was prepping for a flight to Europe so I wanted to make sure this works as it's the recommended choice for flights over 6 hours. The app says it should take up to 45 minutes to find in this mode. I took the device to New York city, it took 3 hours of sitting in the same spot before the location updated. When I returned to long Island in the evening, it then took 4 hours to figure out it had moved away from it's spot in the city. These wait times were unacceptable to me, so I figured, let's try flight mode 1 and I'll see how well the battery does cause maybe I can use that mode instead. My second day of testing I did that, and I traveled from my original location to another 10 miles away. It took 20 minutes to update after arrival. A second location 5 miles away from that it never updated location, but was only there for 30 minutes total so I gave it a pass. I went to two more locations that day which it then updated after 15-20 minutes so I thought maybe this was the solution and felt better about the device. When I returned home however, the app lost the device completely and advised it could not be located, and that I should make sure it's on (which is a joke because there's no on/off button) and charged. After like 45 minutes of waiting to see if it would eventually correct this, it didn't, so I turned my Bluetooth on so my phone could find it and reset. This worked, and for reference the battery was 95% at this point, so it dying was not the problem. I figured maybe this was a fluke and might have resolved with more time, and that it did well the rest of the day, so I activated the second device to make sure it worked as I was traveling back into the city that night and wanted to use it as a test.I took both devices with me, put the first one in flight mode 2 again to give it another shot, and put the new one in flight mode 1 since I knew it was more reliable and I wanted to test the new device. I had my Bluetooth on at the train station to reset the location, then I turned my Bluetooth off again. For the 4 hours I was in the city, 3 of which the devices were stationary, neither device updated location, both thought they were still at my departure train station. Upon returning in the evening, the original device did figure out it was back home instead of the train station after about 45 minutes, the second device never did, the entire evening into the next morning, so for about 12 hours. So the 3rd day, I contacted customer support because that 12 hour period was ridiculous and I figured the device was defective. They determined from their end it had never activated and connected to the network (despite me doing the same process as the first device) and gave me advice on how to get it to activate. This was a process that involved trying to get it to connect to the network in different locations, in case the signal in one location was bad. I did this, in locations the first device had already proven to be discovered, and it just never connected no matter what I did. Customer support said they would transfer my subscription over to a new device if I ordered a replacement, so at least there's that, but the working one was spotty enough, the second one being non-functional just threw me over the edge, and all of a sudden prime shipping wasn't an option anymore (it was for the original order) so the replacement wouldn't arrive before my trip, so I decided I'm done wasting my time with these and returned them.In summary, the device works sometimes, but it's unreliable and you may even get an outright dud. I'm giving it 2 stars cause the Bluetooth works fine and if you can put up with it occasionally not updating locations for a few hours, I guess it's fine. In standard mode for local travel where you can afford a shorter battery life, it would probably work well enough to get by. But that's not what I was looking for at all, as I would be depending on it to find luggage on flights if they got lost, which is a situation I can't wait 4 hours for if I have a connecting flight, and a situation I certainly cannot have a device that will randomly be unable to be located at all. Customer service was at least responsive (though couldn't fix my problem) and did provide a refund for the subscription on the device that never connected ($10 for the month, there is no free trial period anymore), but said they'd have to check with some other team to see if they can refund the subscription for device that did connect. If I were you, I would pass on these and find a different device, it's not worth the headache and unreliability.Update: They ultimately did refund me both of my subscription fees. I'm updating the review to 3 stars just because customer support has been so responsive. My guess is that the biggest problem with this device is that it uses 3G which is being phased out (I'm suspicious that this is why older reviews were positive). It does appear that the company is making a new device that is available for pre-order that uses 4G and GPS called "GEGO GPS". That device may be worth a shot when it's released as the technology will be updated and the company is helpful, but I still would not recommend this model.

Technically the product functions but its not really usable for it's intended role.
Its pretty rare that I ever write reviews for products, however in this particular case I really wanted this product to work so hopefully the company will read this and consider making improvements.Overall at a high level the product functions. It will track location via the mobile phone network or bluetooth. However, in its intended role as a luggage tracker it doesn't really meet the functional need. (more on that below)The biggest issue I had is the time it takes to update its location when in the mobile data network only mode. (which is really the only mode that counts) When I first got the product and tested it by driving it around town it seemed to track via real time providing almost endless updates but I realized eventually this was only because the GEGO was always within Bluetooth range of my phone. So my phone would update where its location was, the GEGO knew it was within say 10ft of bluetooth range of my phone and the GEGO app would just piggy back off my phone's GPS location providing almost real time updates. However, once I turned off bluetooth and the GEGO had to rely upon its own mobile data network connection its ability to locate its location drastically declines. Under the best scenarios my GEGO would update its location independently using its own mobile data connection, about every 30 to 45 minutes. Under worst case scenarios it would go for for upwards of 10 to 12 hours before it would update its location. This was all using the most "aggressive" location update settings as there are multiple update frequency settings. However, I decided to try and use the product on a real world 2 hour US based flight to see how it worked. In each case both inbound and outbound flights the GEGO never updated its location before I got my luggage. On the return flight it took about 8 or 9 hours before it updated its location. So as I mentioned, technically it works and it does track its location. However, as a luggage tracking device if it takes 8 or 9 hours to update its location after you receive your bag it doesn't really provide much value. In the event my bag was lost and I wanted to provide the airline a location update, I could be telling them that my bag is still in on the west coast but really it took a trip to Miami and I would be telling the airline to look for my bag in a location it hasn't been for hours. The next challenge is the bluetooth portion has really limited range, like ~10 to 12ft direct line of sight. Again the idea is you can board the plane and get piece of mind that your bag is in the cargo hold. However, in my experience on a SWA 737 you can't get a bluetooth ping from the cabin even though the bag is in the hold below you. So you take a flight, the GEGO is telling your "nope your bag is not on the plane via bluetooth radar" because the range is too short and then you get to the destination and its says "your bag is still in your departure city" because its slow to update via mobile data network, so you think "Oh crap my bag never made the plane". However, 20 minutes later your bag pops out on the baggage claim carousel like normal.Given the limited bluetooth range and mobile data network updates are painfully slow it just give you anxiety your bag isn't where it should be until it physically comes out on the carousel anyway. Even if the bag is lost I am not sure it would even be a help to the baggage agent to update them on its location give the time lag.I did engage GEGO tech support and the initial suggestions to improve location update time didnt make any difference when driving the unit around town and back and forth to work on the "most aggressive" update setting. I was also unable to get them to respond to my follow up queries when I replied back to the support tickets via email, which again doesnt give me much peace of mind that GEGO support would be much help in an actual lost bag situation. On a positive note I will say the battery life appears to be good and lasted a week even on the most aggressive update mode setting and the app layout is pretty decent and easy to use.Overall while the product does "function" its utility as a luggage tracking device in my opinion is just not up to the functional task yet. I really wanted to love this product and would consider buying another one if they could sort out the bluetooth range and mobile network update location time lag. I would happily trade battery life for update time reduction. If there is ever any updated product in the future that resolves these issues I would consider its as its a great concept.

Not great
Ok as far as it goes. Used it on a flight via Madrid so that I could see whether my case had actually made it to the connecting flight. Turns out it’s not much help for that. I had actually collected my bag at Heathrow and was standing outside with my bag next to me before the tracker could get its act together to tell me that my bag had arrived at Heathrow. All in all it seems to be an expensive waste of money.

Does what it's supposed to, BUT...
Quite simply, this works. The app is not very pretty but it does the job, albeit not in the most elegant way. However it does require a subscription that ain't cheap $7.95 a month or $76 a year

So far very happy
Have not tested it exhaustively as it was simply bought to replace my LugLoc in countries where that no longer works. First impressions are that it is like the LugLoc, but smaller, lighter, and more customisable to your own style of use through the improved app. Not perfect, but definitely worth having rather than not.I also get the impression from researching alternative products that for air travel, there's really no point getting anything other than this. Stump up, or don't, but don't waste your money on something else that is REALLY a false economy!

Great idea, well worth the cost.
Great for keeping track of luggage when on the move. Really good customer service. Well worth the initial outlay and the annual subscription.
