The product is clean & elegant with a highly polished finish. Installation took only a few minutes. Two wood screws attach a bracket to the wall and two machine screws attach the lamp to the bracket. Flexible gooseneck is 16 inches long, lamp housing is 1 inch diameter. Emitted beam of light is 8 inches in diameter at a distance of 16 inches from the lamp. This is large enough to illuminate a book without flooding the room with light. Result is a private reading light with adjustable brightness.

My aging eyes strained to read a book with the lamp on the adjacent night table, so I looked at a dozen reading lights on Amazon. The Kernorv was more expensive, but received good reviews so I purchased one on a Saturday. It arrived on Monday and I easily installed it that afternoon. The workmanship is just fine and it works great! The dimming knob is integrated with the on-off switch. I can easily reach up and turn it on/off, brighter or dimmer. I liked it so much that I just ordered a second one to put in a guest bedroom to replace a bedside floor lamp that I've move downstairs to aid my reading in the family room.

I wish that I could have given this 5 stars but I could not. I have one significant complaint. The tapped holes in the mounting bracket do not line up with the holes in the fixture case. The holes cannot be enlarged in either piece without really messing up the assembly. The only solutions are to send it back and hope for a properly manufactured replacement or do what I did. I shimmed the mounting bracket out from my headboard just enough to bring the holes out further to align with those in the fixture case. This took some trial and error to get it right. I ended up putting a properly sized (thickness) washer on the BACK side of the mounting bracket. This was a PITA ..........trying to keep it from falling off while installing the screw, front washer, bracket, and additional back washer all at the same time. Had to hunt it down in the carpet a couple of times. However, with the light now installed, it looks really good. The flexible gooseneck, the dimmer, and all else operate smoothly / flawlessly. The light beam width / focus is perfect. I don't offer this level of praise lightly. I am VERY picky.....anal some would say. The light is on the yellow side. I knew when ordering that it would be on the lower end of Kelvin scale, so I cannot complain. I typically prefer a whiter light to see better. But this one is so bright, that even with my failing eyesight I do not have to turn it up to full power. Full power is actually just a little bit TOO bright! Even if required to shim another bracket, this is a definite buy again. Ordering another for my wife.

Read the reviews and make sure you don’t sink your screw plugs too deep - or put a washer in between wall and bracket. Test before you mount and you’ll see what depth you need. The thick black power cable didn’t agree with all home design preferences in our house. Trying to route it behind a furniture leg. Some creaking in the gooseneck. We’ll see if it loosens up. It dims great and is one of very few with a real old-school dimmer electrical knob with click-off. Fantastic! The light is still fairly strong and spreads wide when at the minimum, wish it would dim even lower. Might try to filter it more. Completely useless magnifying glass toy was included in the package. All else, this is great and does what it says. Happy I went for it!

Love how easy it was to mount. It also has a dimmer built in. Make sure you mount it where it makes the primary user happy so she (or he) does not yell at you and you end up having to move it lol (my mistake)

Before mounting the light to the wall I attached the mounting bracket to the base and discovered if the bracket were firmly attached to the wall the screw holes on the bracket and the mounting holes on the base were out of alignment by about 1/8" because the back of the bracket is below the base line when the screws are in place (see photos). Also the wiring, although well wrapped, is exposed to the wall when mounted. I then plugged the light in and turned it on. The light was actually pretty nice and the dimmer worked, but when I tried to turn it off there was a "click" in the switch and it would not turn off. So the switch broke on the first turn, and it would have been difficult to mount without some serious re-bending of the mounting bracket. So it went back into the box and back to Amazon the same day I got it.

After I screwed down the mounting bracket it was clear that the 2 holes on the light itself did not match up with the holes in the bracket. Short of sending it back, this then involved re-drilling the holes so that the 2 screws would match up with the holes. The screws are now not as secure as they should be if this was macined correctly to begin with. Too bad. Nice dimmable reading light for bed. I hope they correct this in the future.
