Waited almost 2 months to give myself adequate time to use the safe before leaving a review. Purchased the VT20 Series Essential safe for my handguns and more importantly to keep them secure from others in my home. Opted not to purchase the biometric and bluetooth model only as I wanted to keep it simple plus save a few bucks. Summary: First I want to state that the quality and structure of the safe serves & fits it's purpose. Is it going to be bullet proof or impossible for the bad guys to break into or easily grab your safe with contents if your home is broken into? The answer is probably! If you're looking for that heavy duty fort knox bullet proof safe option than none of these type of safe security options including all the other manufacturers will satisfy your needs. Review: So far no issues to report after nearly almost 2 months of use. I'll randomly check battery levels and so far still at full strength. No issues whatsoever with keypad lighting pads and door quickly opens using my stored code, zero malfunctions. I like how the keypad lights upon your hand getting close to the keypad, input code and click the top door or lid opens. My only gripe is the lid opens to quickly with enough force to move the safe a bit. Might be a future enhancement but not a deal breaker. The brightness of the interior lighting assists with viewing your stored content. Wish they would position the lightning in each corner or include lights in both the top and bottom or left and right inner panel areas. When my handguns are placed in the safe the majority of the light can be easily blocked but still able to view contents in a dark environment. I'm currently storing my Glock 19 and Glock 26 with 1 extra mag for each handgun. It's a perfect fit with no issues closing the safe lid. My Vaultek came in black with the red branded logo where I also see other models in gray with silver logo, not sure if this is an older generation product (different features or design?) but not a huge issue if it's only cosmetic or appearance related. The interior is well padded and the included cable is long enough to serve it's purpose in my home. I may move this to my nightstand in the future and look into the MX series next since I plan on purchasing a few more handguns in the upcoming months. Overall a sturdy, good looking and reliable product and I will recommend Vaultek products to others!

So this is the fourth gun safe I’ve tried. Wow!! It is awesome. Cost twice as much as the other ones I had tried but it is well worth the extra money. This safe is very very sturdy and well-made. Three times heavier than the other safes I tried. You can tell when you pick it up that they meant business when they created this safe. Everything about it is high-quality. Even the charging cable that comes with it is a top quality nylon braided charging cord.👍 very simple to program your code. I love that it has locking bars on both sides of the case as opposed to just one in the center making this thing almost impossible to pry open. The spring loaded hinges open the lid automatically and quickly but with just the right amount of force. I liked that it came with a quality rechargeable battery and the safe detects the polarization of the battery so it doesn’t matter which direction you install it and I thought that was pretty cool. So far I have not had a single code entry failure which was a huge problem with every other safe I have tried. With the other safes I tried code entry malfunction was common enough to be a fatal problem in an emergency. So far this safe has worked like a charm. It has some very awesome features. It has a proximity sensor so the keys light up when your hand is near the safe so you can see see the buttons in the pitch black. That is super awesome and very helpful!!! You can turn sound on or off. You do not have to keep it plugged in for it to function but the directions say that you can leave the safe continually plugged in and it will not harm the safe or your battery👍 Though it does recommend unplugging it occasionally to allow the battery to cycle down whatever that means. Press the five key and the keys will light up telling you almost exactly at what percentage of a charge battery has remaining. If your battery is running low and you forget to check it the safe will notify you so that you know you need to charge your safe battery. 👍👍 The anti-theft cable that comes with it is very thick and heavy duty. Just wow!!! I am so happy I chose this safe. I was trying to decide between five safes and ended up choosing this one even though it was the highest priced. Knowing what I know now I would’ve paid even more. I definitely recommend this safe to anyone!! I ordered this at midnight and it arrived on my doorstep by 10 AM. Outstanding. With a new baby in the house, we needed something to keep the bedside gun locked up without breaking the bank. I found this small safe to fit the bill completely. Vaultek does make a handgun line of safes (vt) witch has 2 latches vs 1 of the (ve) line, plus some other features, but comes in at 70 dollars more and up. Build quality is great, it has a good weight, and doesn’t rattle. Come with a steel cable to attach it to a heavy object to keep it from walking away. If a pro thief finds it, I’m sure after a few minutes he’ll have it, but It will keep the kids out, and anyone looking to grab and go without tools. This safe come with some very nice features. The keypad lights up when you get close, and has an indoor light when opened. The keypad beep and inside light can be toggled on and off using the keypad. Another great feature is tamper alert, buy holding 2 buttons it will show if a wrong code was entered after last good code. Easy to charge, battery hasn’t died on me yet, but it’s only been a month, and the manual says you can leave it plugged in 24/7 without harm. Backup keys, if it dies. Battery level indicated by holding a key down. The exterior finish and keypad looks expensive. Packaging was nicer then expected also, shippers aren’t hurting this thing! Overall it looks great, works great, and has plenty of high dollar features.
