My Favorite EF Fountain Pen
Pilot's manufacturing wrung almost every extra penny out of this design...but, the functionality of this little thing amazes me. Very fine line, almost like writing with a hypodermic syringe. I have four in service, and they all write the same. I can use these on cheap paper with minimal bleed through or ghosting. These pens are great if you write in very small script (or need to - such as edits and corrections within text, footnotes & annotations, etc). The Pilot converters work very well in this pen. I've used these with a variety of Noodler's, Diamine and Pilot/Namiki inks, and I've not had any problems. The drawbacks are: it looks really cheap (and so ugly that it is likely theft-proof), it has recently become relatively expensive, and the nib is so pointy sharp that it is a stabbing hazard if you are clumsy. I suspect that Pilot increased (tripled, as of summer 2020) the price of this perfect little pen so that folks will patronize their more pricey & profitable models - and I would not be surprised if Pilot discontinued them for that reason. I ordered this set of two to keep for the future, when these may not be available. Additional money will certainly buy a nicer looking pen, but in the case of EF nibs, I don't think fancier pens can write any better (my opinion, of course).

Right size nib for my handwriting
I write small and cramped, the Japan EF nib makes my writing look legible. I love the clear body of this pen because I have multiple ink colours I use at one time. This set, though pricy, cost as much as others selling just one pen with the converter. This comes with twice the pens and converters and sticky notes. A bargain in my book - not as good as it once was, but that is the way things go. You find something good and others do to, and then supply and demand happen.

scratchy nib
I purchased the extra fine nib version of this pen. I have another pilot fountain pen that I really love (the Cavalier), but I was buying these for my kids and didn't want to spend that much $$. The nib on these were scratchy from the package. Way less satisfying.

Well, It Does Write
The pens are OK. They write and do the job but arent that smooth and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if thier life was short. Just not worth the price given what is available out there.

Wonderful pens, write beautifully.
These pens are great, simple fountain pens, EF nib. It takes longer than I would like to get the ink to run down into the nib when a new ink cartridge is placed. But, once it does, the pen writes beautifully.
