Very strong plastic smell
Seems to work ok, but an extremely strong plastic/chemical smell that has not abated after weeks. We were using this to run a kitchen appliance and it stinks up our entire kitchen when in use.

be careful when buying internationally
I purchased the Diamond star 5500 model(3/21) directly through 220 - electronics web-site . Since I lived in Florida . Now living in Brazil , I needed another ,since, of the 2 the I originally purchased, fried after ~3 years of use (it was not fixable here). Normal night TV use and some music listening . Since shipping it back for repair was more costly then buying a new 1, I bought another.When I received it , I tested it (short test to see if it worked and made it through the trip 5 minute test) and all was good. A couple of weeks ago I decided to put the 5500 to use to protect /separate protection of all me TV/sound system devices . Well, the 110v outlets FRIED after ~ 10/15 minutes .So , now I "F'ed" with a heavy ,large expensive ,2nd paper weight . Same issue happened with 1 of the first 1's I bought.I messaged the seller and still have not received a reply . I really like these transformers and the original 2 I had worked great . 1 is now doing the job for about 5 years and still going strong .BUT ,to have brand new device BURN OUT within 20 minute of uses is not good .Something is very wrong with these . BEWARE . I can't say for every location but if you are outside the USA (like me) you may have an impossible job trying to have it repaired .
