Buy the two pack + lifetime guarantee means you'll never be without a capo.
I recently started playing the guitar again but couldn't find my shubb. I know its in the apartment somewhere, so I didn't want to buy another one. Instead, I wanted a cheap effective capo and started looking at this style pretty quickly. Comparing the price of the two pack to the single capos, this was by far the cheapest per Capo. Get the two pack - more on that in a minute. The capo itself is very effective. There is nice rubber and a solid spring, so you won't get much fret buzz. The way it's built, I very rarely find myself bending springs when I put it on, and then its really easy to fix (just squeeze to release and put it back on). Once its on, it stays in place, even when being knocked a bit. The rubber doesn't extend all the way out, so you do have to be careful to put this straight on as I could picture someone carelessly scratching their guitar... but honestly, this is true with any metal capo and is really easy to avoid. The only real downside to this capo (and it is apparently identical to other capos for sale with different branding) is the construction of the joint. While the capo is high quality rubber, and aluminum - for some unknown reason the manufacturer uses a really cheap plastic joint. I found this out about 3 weeks in when my capo broke apart while putting it on the guitar. Here's why I don't care: I got a two pack for under 20 bucks. I emailed Nordic, despite it still being in the return window, I gave them the option of me returning the Capos to amazon(I was just going to buy the Shubb) or they could send me a new two pack. My thought was, if I had three, and another broke, I'd still have two left. They obliged! (and fast - I got the capos two days later). My suggestion - buy the two pack. Safely stash away your back up - and if one breaks, email nordic for a replacement and start using your backup one. They claim a lifetime guarantee - I don't know how many times they will replace broken capos - but even if they only replace twice (one for each in the pack) I would imagine these will last you a while, and at the price - if you lose one you won't be overly upset. Summary: Be careful putting it on, and then it works great. Easy on, easy off. One broke, but the company was great about replacing it. Buy the two pack and even if one breaks you'll never be without a capo.

The Capos That Iron Man Will Most Likely Use
I got the red and gold capos. The 2-pack capos came in well packaged. Each capo is housed inside a purse-string bag and a box. So, essentially they were bagged and double-box. High marks already for the packaging. They are super light-weight. And easy to put on and move up and down my guitar's neck. The design is nothing new. You've seen them before. But, I prefer this clamping design over a brand whose name I will not mention. Although they are super expensive I still bought 2 of those because they were really pretty to look at and I thought I will like them. I did not. The clamping design just did not work for me. They hurt my fretting hand. So, I never got to use them. But, these 2 capos by Nordic Essentials are true examples of form and function done right. The design is similar to the ones I currently use by Planet Waves. But, a lot lighter and more affordable. The GOLD one went to my 6-string Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE with a V-neck and wider nut as it complements its Natural 'Gloss' Finish and gold hardware. The RED one went to my 6-string Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-45ME with a Slim Taper D profile neck as I thought it complements its Vintage Sunburst 'Gloss' Finish. I mentioned my guitars' neck profile because both capos worked perfectly even with the difference in neck profile, width and radii. As one reviewer has mentioned, the red capo as pictured here is different. It is much nicer in person. These color combination reminds me of IRON MAN. I will definitely buy more of these. All the available colors. The Fuchsia and Purple will go to my daughter.

Initial issue but - NOW SOLD on these capos -they are very nice and WORK GREAT
August 7 - (Start from the bottom and ready up if you want the really long version of this review).. Just got home two days ago and opened up two very nice deluxe capo's. I have now used them on different guitars, a 12 string Martin and a ukulele - they work great - in fact with my hands/fingers, I like to move the Capo back from the fret a bit - and these grip/press down the strings so even half way between the frets I'm still getting great sound and no vibration. Been playing guitar since I was 16 (on and off)(about 31 years). Even after the initial experience I had on my original order, I'd recommend getting these. They are very sturdy - just didn't seem that way when one arrived in the mail broken. Now I am not sure how a person would break these unless abusing them. Also - look at the deluxe ones - I got the coffee and the silver - very sleek and classic looking. I'll have these for years and I am happy to have them along. Thanks again to Nordic Essentials for being so responsive. July 30 - UPDATE FOR THE BETTER - Kudos to the Nordic Essentials team. They responded and explained why what happened happened. Looking back, I should have waited to post the entire review as I didn't give them a chance to explain. The experience I initially had has not changed, but they have responded professionally and I am willing to give these Capos another try. We all know Shxx happens. I'll update when I learn more. July 27 2015 Opened up sack to find Capo was in pieces. And only ONE was delivered - NOT TWO. So broken out of the box? I looked it over - and yes it is made of aluminum, BUT the pivot pin is made of PLASTIC? I own a few capos and have had them for years- they all have metal pivot pins. Both my sons started playing guitar and I wanted to give them a capo - sent in for a refund - it's time to shop for another set with a metal pivot pin.

These capos are a good deal for the money
These capos are a good deal for the money. I've used 2 Dunlop Trigger Capos for many years. I found that I needed an additional capo for the additional guitars I've picked up over time and keep in different rooms of the house. I decided to give these a try. They seem to be quite well put together and work fine for the intended purpose. They are not quite as nice as the Dunlops but they are close enough for casual use. The one thing that stood out in my limited playing time (I've only had them for a day now) is the corners of the metal. Especially the one closest to the high e string. The corners on the Dunlop are thicker and more rounded. I never noticed them at all. These Nordic capos are not "sharp" but they are noticeably thinner and less round. I don't think this will be an issue but I thought I would mention it. The thinner metal also allows for a lighter weight so they are less noticeable in that aspect (not that an ounce or two makes a difference to most people) The spring is good. Effort to open the capos is lighter than the Dunlops but certainly adequate. The pad that covers the strings is very slightly curved. I tried it on both a curved fretboard (maple neck Strat imitation) and a flat fretboard (a Jackson and an acoustic). It worked fine on both types of necks. Overall I’m happy with the purchase. If I was going to be gigging, I would want something a little better made like the Dunlops but for casual use, these are fine.

Music to My Ears: Nordic Essentials Aluminum Universal Guitar Capo (2-pack)
I tried the Nordic Essential aircraft aluminum capos on a Baritone Uke, Tenor Uke, Gibson electrics, Fender electrics, a 1970 Baldwin Burns electric, a circa 1960 Kay Flattop, a Taylor Mini and a Wechter Resonator. Having a variety of stringed instruments provided me a chance to see how they would perform with the new capo. I tried the capos on 13 stringed instruments so they got a good workout by playing songs, bending leads, sweeps, flat picking, strumming, and the like, all at different frets. All the instruments are either 6 or 4 string. The capo performed well, from a 1-1/4 inch nut width tenor ukulele to a 1-3/4 inch nut width resonator, and everything else in-between. The electrics are set up with nickel 9s and the action is low. On the acoustics the action is a bit higher, especially on the Reso. I use Phosphor Bronze 11s & 12s on the 2 acoustics and 13s on the Reso. On the two Ukes I am using Aquila New Nylgut strings that have metal strings on the third and fourth. The capo feels very strong and clamps down on the strings with a firm force. The silicone pad works very well on all the instruments I played no matter what strings, neck or fret I used. I moved the capo up and down playable frets of each instrument and found no issues; no buzzing, no dead strings; the strings rang out at all playable frets. Best of all I did not have to re-tune the instrument every time the capo was moved. Nice. It is important that the capo be placed correctly on the fret board or there will be buzzes, sour or dead strings. In most cases the capo should go right behind the fret. Some stringed instruments may require the capo be placed somewhere in between the frets. Basically you have to experiment a bit to find how well your stringed instrument will receive this or any capo and still be in tune. Musicians can have their stringed instruments set up differently and fret height and width could have some affect as well. If you can still get the 2 Pack deal, get it. Even if you don’t have more than one stringed instrument it’s worth it. The capo comes with a handy dandy carrying black pouch. Great deal. Great capos for the price point. 5 Stars for the Nordic Essential Aluminum Universal Capo and, yes, I have another order in now. The capos are made in China.

Great capo's. Work well on my 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars. Have not tried them on my electric yet.

Lovely quality and work well
Really good capos for the price. Grip well and cover the neck of my acoustic guitar properly. The bright colours are a bonus as I can easily see them even in dim light - plus the each come with a carrying pouch to protect them in transit.
