If you want to start 3d printing, this is the one for you!
WOW WOW WOW! Complete novice to 3D printing and after tons of research and youtube videos, I settled on the monoprice select mini v2. This is printer is unreal (to a novice)for the price. I have printed 6 starter models (see pictures) and apart from one failure (I think I had the extruder temp too hot, all other models set to 195 for extruder and bed at 50), it has been superb. Print quality is surprisingly good, the interface on the printer is easy to use and not too noisy) Some things to note, I didn't update firmware and does not seem to affect it but advised to by many 3d youtubers. WIFI setup can be tricky (see youtube videos for guides) but worth the effort to avoid using the sd card. Cura is free (somehow) and it sooo easy to use. lastly, the reason I think I haven't had many issues, is that I took 45 mins to level the heated bed to exactly how the booklet said to. First review I have ever done on amazon but felt compelled to given how happy this printer has made my children. Shop around for filament (I went for geeetech) as I can see if you go too cheap, prints will not be as good. I have seen some bad reviews but hope this is due to the previous (v1) model as not had an issue this one.

Out of the box printer
Over 100 prints I can review this printer. After a few initial test prints off the included card decided to make a few thingaverse projects and most of the projects printed near flawless. I discovered if I re calibrated the print bed every 2-3 prints I could sustain near perfect off the printer parts with little work, truily has been a pleasure to use. Not suffered any jams or blockages. Just remember to dial in the recommended filament temp from the brand you use and use the recommended settings from the manual and this will put you in the ballpark for normal prints. Slight modifications to the settings may be required if the part has excessive overhang but part of the learning curve. I e only had a few wonky prints mostly to do with bed level. I find if I have to use force to remove a previous print it knocks off the level slightly so I check levels mostly after each part print. Its a well built printer. I was expecting lots of cheap plastic but to my surprise its all metal and very sturdy with good weight to it. I also love you can move it about easily and not be tethered to a PC. Which is great. Its reasnobly quiet to run too so I nearly get disturbed whist doing work at my desk whilst printer is doing its thing. I plan to do some minor upgrades like glass bed and filament guide, which helps print better, over all its a decent well built printer, easy to use. And a joy to work with.

Great little 3D printer (but is not the V2)
This was the Version 1 Printer when the Version 2 was advertised by Monoprice (although it doesn't specify the version anywhere on this page). That's the reason for this only getting four stars - if it had been advertised as a V1, I would have still bought it, and it's actually pretty good - i'm currently on my 11th print - and i've been impressed with how well it's done so far. I've been using rigid.ink PLAs at 0.1mm layer height and it's come out looking great most of the time. There are a few issues with the printer - but far less than other 3D printers have had in the past - after a cancelled print, the next print will try to send the print head off to infinity, so you have to restart - but it starts up quickly so that's not a problem. On mine, the included USB cable didn't work - I'm not sure if it's the cable or printer connection because I find it much easier to use the microSD card slot anywayThe only issue that is more than just annoying is that the printer starts printing before it is at the right level - which means the first couple of inches don't stick to the build plate and can curl up - a couple of times this curl got in the way of the print and messed it up. I've partially solved this by always adding a raft - because then the imperfections are on the removable part anyway - and it normally corrects itself by the time it gets to the print itself. But this is a bit of a waste of filament and time.I've been printing with Rigid.Ink PLA at a temperature of 190C and a bed temperature of 40C, and it's been going really well.

First 3D Printer. Think again!
Bought this printer as i'd watched videos online implying what a great first 3D printer this was, could they have been so wrong...The printer came all assembled and ready to use from the box, it appeared to be well built and easy enough to use. I kept having problems with the levelling of the bed (You have to do this before starting printing, this is to level the plate that the extruder prints upon) using the four corners to level the bed. After many attempts of levelling the bed my prints till weren't coming out as they should have. It turns out the bed on the printer was warped towards the centre - the item was returned to Amazon and a replacement was sent out. Upon receiving the second 3D printer the first thing I check was the print bed, unfortunately for me this second printer also had the same issue. As this was my second 3D printer I contacted Monoprice support to see if they could provide some assistance and resolve the ongoing issue with the levelling of print beds. Can I say this was one of the worst examples of customer service I have received. They did not once offer to sort anything to do with the printer (Since it was their own product). Their only recommendation was to return to Amazon for a third printer or refund! As this was an obvious defect with the Monoprice Select Mini, I returned to Amazon for a second time - This time for a full refund. Only if all companies were as helpful as Amazon are!Would not recommend, obvious defect with the product / design and customer service is pants!

My favorite 3d printer
I have 4 printers like this one. Value for money is unbeatable. I ordered this printer with Prime membership, but it was always two days late compared to the "promised" delivery time. Known issues with this printer: dealing with the micro SD card is pretty annoying. Both USB and WIFI printing are extremely slow. Parts adhere to the surface very well, sometimes too well. After printing for long time in the same area, the surface started to peel off. With one of my printer the power wire heating the bed got torn, this can be prevented a bit if you don't print on the rearest part of the bed. Alltogether a great printer, worked best for me with hatchbox PLA, which unfortunately is not available in Germany in 1.75 mm diameter, but can be ordered form amazon.com.

MALISSIMO!!!
