Brief, Straightforward Explanation of TRZ's 40 Principles
I recently learned about TRZ, and wanted a basic, straightforward book that explained the concepts, without requiring an engineering degree. This book accomplishes that end, though it's parsimonious in explanation, and still very much has an engineering focus. For this reason, I also recommend Mark Fox's Da Vinci and the 40 Answers as a partner to this book, especially if you're not an engineer! Nevertheless, this book does briefly explain and summarize the 40 principles, and so serves as a handy desk reference for ideas on how to think about solutions to problems.

Decent intro and examples
This book is a good quick overview if you don't want to spend a lot of time to get the basic points of TRIZ, but TRIZ can be a lot more complicated to do well and really understand the findings. The examples are helpful, but they didn't blow me away. Some are not too strong. It's hard to find really solid examples with good explanations of why they are good examples.

Yes, I can understand it...
Really enjoy how I can see the value in TRIZ thinking techniques - not over my head at all.

200% Creativity Increase!
It's great to finally get an original copy! This is the most beginner-friendly book on the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving and will enable one to solve all sorts of problems at home, work, and more.

Oversimplification of TRIZ
I selected this book because the TOC indicated that two pages were deveoted to each of the 40 priciples. This is because 2-3 diagrams take up one page and the second page is blank. The diagrams were not very effective at conveying the underlying priciple and most diagrams were a mediocre example of the application of the principle. There is little information in this text on how to identify and develop the inherent contradiction that one is trying to solve. However, the contradiction matrix at the end is relatively easy to read when determining which priciples to apply to a problem.I had hoped to buy a single book on TRIZ to get a better understanding of the theory and its application. This book was not sufficient for that purpose.
