Missing Manual is Much Better
The Missing Manual by David Pogue is much better, in my opinion.

A Priceless Resource
I was a bit skeptical to upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 8 because of the rumors of poor, rather than improved functionality. I took a leap of faith, and boy was I glad that I did. There are so many new features in iOS 8, that a book like this is exactly what I needed to introduce me to the completely redesigned iOS.The very first chapter in this book gave me a list of the features that were never before seen on an Apple device. The navigation in this book was also excellent, as I was able to click each new feature, and the book would show me an in-depth explanation of how to use it or turn it on. I also really liked that it is clearly shown to which device each feature applies. Finally, the tips and tricks chapter was the most extensive I have ever seen. Rather than clutter the book with tips that helped me to use my iPhone faster, the author organized them all into a single chapter, referencing out to other topics in the book where needed. It's very logically organized. For instance, I didn't know that you could pause an application while it is downloading or prevent applications from refreshing in the background. Overall, this is a priceless resource for anyone using any iOS 8 device.

The extensive indexing throughout the body of the work makes it easy to find nuggets of information you need to know
Though I have not read it in it's entirety, I was immediately impressed by its Table of Contents, which includes a "What's New in IOS 8" section. The extensive indexing throughout the bodyof the work makes it easy to find nuggets of information you need to know. I am pleased thatMr. Hughes spared no expense in the use of color and detail in his quest to pair everything inthe book with what the reader sees on his/her device. This book is a pleasure to read and iscertain to be at the top of my online help guides. I'll be checking out his other "Help Me" guidesin the near future.

Aimed at Beginners as Well as Advanced Users
I have iOS 8 on my new iPhone 6 Plus, and I was really surprised by the amount of content covered in this book. I thought that I knew everything about the iPhone, but I was wrong. I really like that this book cuts through all of the fluff and gets right to the point. I thought that some of the information was definitely aimed at beginners, but there was also quite a bit of valuable content for advanced users.
