Good isolating electrical tape for high-temperature applications. I use an inside gas fireplace, behind the burner, to isolate the spark ignition line when touching metal and to limit high-voltage spark leaks.

All the reviews claiming this does not stick - they are not stretching it out first. If you keep it tight while wrapping it around the cable (or whatever you want to wrap), it sticks very strongly to itself. Imagine stretching something like an ACE bandage and you will get the right result. It does not just "stick" to itself either - it is hard to describe, but it really seems to "bond" to itself and create a thick continuous wrap. Even though it bonds to itself, it does not leave behind sticky residue. It does not create any gummy goo like some kinds of these weatherproof cable wraps. It removes extremely cleanly with just a knife. Of course that was just testing for a few days - time will tell how it holds up over years.

I used this tape to re-cover, repair my service cable to the house to the meter. Wrapped easily once you understand it only sticks to itself, not the cable. I cannot compare it to the Scotch, but I thought it was a quality product, easy to use and the price is affordable. You do not have to use the redline side, you can use the totally gray side as well.

i had ordered 3 enamel coated (inside and out) cast iron pans. the company provided 3 'free' silicone handle covers. they don't fit and can slip off when you pick up the heavy pans...very dangerous. but the idea is good. i cut and trimmed the silicone handle covers (razor blade) and then used this tape to wrap the silicone handles very tightly to the proper shape of the extremely hot handles (handles cold when i did this). it worked well. i put the tape over the trimmed silicone handles and around the small space between the silicone handle cover and the pan to where the cover did not reach. the temp capability of this tape ensures an extra layer of protection and keeps the handle from slipping.
