Awesome spud bar. Great for checking ice where you are walking. Sometimes conditions create patches of unsafe ice and the best way to make sure you don't step on one is to use a spud bar. The 2 pieces fit nicely in my sled. It is great for chipping holes in the ice too, probably faster than a hand auger for anything less than 8 inches thick.

Nice sturdy design with good weight. Can reach 4in depth with 1-2 strikes. Breaks down into 2 pieces which makes storage and transport easier. Used for ice testing or chiping open old holes if I'm too lazy to break out the auger. Never get on the ice with out it.

This chipper is very heavy duty. I had no issues with its arrival, it came as advertised. I wanted it because it breaks down into two pieces which I can easily transport in my shanty. It is heavy! Which makes it easy to test the ice when spudding. The strap is perfect to make sure you don't lose the spud while testing. I did not try to punch a fishing hole in the ice but I would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult! It comes with a guard on the business end. It is not designed to be sharp, nor should it be as this is more of a blunt force trauma type tool. Your auger blades need to be sharp - not this tool!

I've only used it once, but I was impressed with how well built it is. It does the job perfectly.

This is an excellent product, very good spud bar for safely checking the ice, It packs away nicely so it's easy to stow and carry. the only complaint i have is the picture clearly shows a locking pin to secure the spud bar when using, mine did not have that. MIne have a phillips head screw, perhaps the locking pin was lost and the shipper attempted to replace it.

I got this for ice fishing. Worked well, but only needed it once before ice was really thick. But I used it all winter to break up ice in the driveway! Came in really handy.

What I was looking for

Great ice spud bar, I wanted this one as its portable as a 2 pieces. Horrible handling by the amazon warehouse, hence the star deductions. The first one I received had damage to the powdercoat in multiple places, the tip chisel end was bent & was it missing the protective cap. The replacement had less damage but at least it had the protective cap.

Works well,like that it breaks down,fits well in the bottom of my sled,good for reopening old fishing holes,it’s quite heavy,which makes it preform quite well.Good option to replace auger if space is an issue or you want a really big hole
