Unfortunately the Vis Nav and Dyson Support was hot garbage.
Was super excited for this machine. Probably more than I should have been (we have four shedding dogs) but I digress. I unboxed the machine and plugged it in. To my surprise the battery was around 90% already so I started setup on the app. Welp, after many failed attempts to connect it to wifi, I decided to start again. Eureka! This time it worked. Oh boy, after a quick update we were off to the races!I decided to skip mapping for the moment as I wanted to get this baby cleaning. I hit play on auto and it slowly moved off the base and turned a 360. Then proceeded to completely shut off. WTH(eck)!? Hmm ok maybe a little hiccup. Turned it back on and hit play again. Woohoo here we goooooo…oh crud, powered off again. Put it back on the base thinking maybe I misread the battery level. Nope. So let’s try again. I hit auto and play again and it started working. Made it through a full cleaning this time! After letting it fully recharge I figured I do a mapping run this time. So I opened the app but connection failed. Went up to look at the machine, it was powered on but no internet. So tried numerous times to reconnect to the internet but no avail. I decided at this point to reboot and erase. Maybe somewhere, something software related got confused, well it sounded good at the time.So I removed from my app, reset and started the whole process again. Failed again numerous times connecting to the internet. Repeatedly stating my password was wrong. It wasn’t. Finally after a few more removal and reboots, I got it to connect.Once it was added, I started the mapping run. 10 seconds in, powered off again. I decided at this point it was time to admit defeat as I sat on my fur covered carpet.Ah ha! I’ll get on Dyson support chat! They’ll know what to do! This was a worse decision than the decision I made to buy this thing. After about 20 minutes I got on with what may have been a human but I’m not 100% as it was an incredibly difficult conversation that entailed me repeating myself numerous times. Then the alleged support human decided to paste in the same “make sure battery is charged and home is readied” canned answer. At this point I was already pulling the box out of the closet to pack this baby back up and send it on its merry way back to Amazon. Never again with my spend my money on any Dyson product. I get there’s sometimes problems but that combined with the incredibly poor support, I’m out.

[DO NOT BUY] a tragically & unnecessarily bad product from an otherwise great product company
It is with heavy heart that I convey how terrible this product is. I've had this Dyson robot vacuum for around 6 months. it is set up to clean one large almost entirely empty room with extremely low industrial carpet. the HW itself seems pretty great with amazing suction that cleans noticeably better than my previous Neato vacuum. However, there are persistent SW issues that make it incredible frustrating to use. I kept hoping a SW update would fix the issues, but i have now given up on that hope. Issues I routinely encounter include: dropping off the WiFi network for no reason (i have other Dyson products like air cleaners that *never* fall off the network) and then being very tricky to get back on the network. his is probably the most annoying given it takes 5-10 minutes to get it back onto the network (which I'll complain more about below). The second most annoying issue is getting "stuck" which is ludicrous given how simple and empty the room is... and to be clear "stuck" seems to mean it bumped into the wall or a simple object like a pole (see photos) whereas other times the robot will just stop in the middle of the totally empty room and declare it is "stuck". There are a few other similar and seemingly related failure modes... like the robot will not indicate it is "stuck" but will just stop in the middle of the room and let the battery drain. Even when it is working well, the app UI (i am on iOS) for managing the WiFi is terrible. If you are (or were previously) connected to a network and go to manage WiFi you cannot see what network you are/were connected to... you can only add a new WiFi connection which will overwrite whatever was previously there. If my robot has fallen off the network and I go to do that it then will allow me to reconnect to the same network and tell me it was successfully connected but frequently it is not actually connected (i.e., I still cannot communicate with the robot via WiFi... just over BT for settings management) so it takes a few tries repeating that for the robot to successfully connect. It seems to work best if I switch WiFi networks instead of trying to reconnect to the one it already dropped off. In any case, you get the idea. Just a tragically and unnecessarily bad product from an otherwise great product company.
