Optimum FerreX Iron Remover - 17 oz., Multi-Use Car Detailing Spray Acts as a Tar Remover and Car Wheel Cleaner, Safe for Use on Cars, RV's, Motorcycles, and Boats

The smell is sickening, but did take the rust deposits off.

First, know that I have a ceramic coating (professionally applied, with a warranty) on my wheels and barrels. Second, know that I got the coating put on my car and wheels within days of getting it brand new, so there wasn't any iron deposits prior to the coating. I called my detail shop and complained that my wheels were pitting - and wouldn't clean up - even though I had the ceramic coating on them, and they told me I likely just needed a deep cleaning with Ferrex. I cleaned the wheels thoroughly first, and then went back with Ferrex - barely using any of the product. I waited a couple of minutes, used a soft bristle brush, and ever iron deposit came off my wheels. Yes, this is likely because I already had the ceramic coating, but nonetheless, the product worked exactly as I had hoped it would. I'm very happy with the results.

Ferrex is one of the #1 suggested chemicals for removing Iron on wheels and painted surfaces on your car. From what I've seen, it seems to work, but I honestly have no true way to prove it.I sprayed the new car, 3 panels at first, and realized that even though it was cool out (70 F) and in the shade (my garage) the chemical dried in 1 minute. This is contrary to their request to spray and leave sit for 2-3 minutes. On the whole car, I only saw maybe 3 or 4 spots turning purple. This was a new car so maybe it's what is expected.Once it tried, be sure to NOT wipe it down. Use the spray to wet it again and then use a clay bar or sopping wet towel to continue the decontamination. If you wipe it when it's dry and the iron has not broken down, that's a nice micro-scratch you'll make.As I learned, do one panel at a time. Spray, let sit for a bit (1-2 minutes?) and then use it as clay lube. That's what I read at least and it seems to have worked well. This stuff did get on my plastic trim and I was diligent on wiping that up before it dried. I'm not sure if I got it all, but there's still no plastic staining as some other Iron decontaminants warn about.Overall good product that seems to work. This stuffs incredible. I have Sparco Pro Corsa wheels that have lots of books and crannys that are difficult to get into and over the winter the get a ton of gold brake dust build up that is impossible to remove. This stuff just instantly dissolves it and lightly wipes off with a soap and sponge. The wheels looked brand new afterwards. Years of struggling has been solved in about 30 seconds. So worth it.

Used to remove orange/yellow staining from my cars alloy wheels. Sprayed on and in a couple minutes the most stained areas turned a dark purple. I scrubbed lightly and rinsed well. A few really bad areas required a second treatment but after that the wheels look new.

Performance and ease of cleaning

I'll start by saying that if this has a lesser rotten egg smell than other brands of iron/fallout remover, then I'm scared to try the others. Sprayed my car down with the Ferrex after a wash and rinse. At first I wasn't sure if it was working or not mostly because of the dark grey color of my car. Sure enough after a minute or two I started to notice that the ground around my car was purple, letting me know that the Ferrex was activating and working on my car. The attached pic is from before I even rinsed the Ferrex off, that's all just the run-off rolling down the paint. My only issue was that I used nearly the entire bottle on my mid sized sedan. This may have been avoided if my car was another color and I could tell where product was applied instead of potentially oversaturating. Otherwise, good product.
