Please save yourself a headache and buy this if you are replacing the door handle.
Vehicle: 2006 Toyota Sequoia with 98,000 milesThis review is more about the door handle. These parts should be replaced at the same time.Good: The door handle part is all metal and a great improvement over the original equipment part.Bad: The lever assembly is cheap stamped metal that is missing some of the reinforcement ribs of the original equipment part.I installed the new "dorman" handle without replacing the lock mechanism. The cheap stamped metal and rivet holding the engaging mechanism just bent when I tried to use my super powers to open the door. The handle part didn't break though. Since this is an exact replacement, I was able to remove the handle part and put it on the OE lever part. There is a single long pin with a c clamp that you remove to mix and match the parts. After replacing the door mechanism (search part 69301-0C010 ), and re-installing, everything works perfectly. I also rotated the u-bolt on the bottom of the door to use the unused and unmarred side with the new latch.Note: Replacement of this is a real bear. Toyota really screwed up on this part. I wasn't able to get the door open because the latch was just too unhappy. You can remove the back panel with the window down - from the outside of the car. With the window down, insert some type of hook between the fuzzy black window channel and the back plastic panel about an inch right of center - facing towards the front of the car. There is a notch cut in the plastic panel there. Pull up and out. Don't forget to remove the interior pull strap first. The rest of the job is pretty intuitive, but make sure you remove the two small rubber grommets in the interior sheet metal to get access to the door handle bolts.

Perfect fit, works like new
The tailgate latch on our 2001 Sequoia started acting up a couple of years ago. It wouldn't stay latched closed. After hitting current latch mechanism with WD-40 and silicone lubricant every month or so, which would temporarily remedy the situation, it finally gave up for good and wouldn't latch at all. This part fit perfectly and I had it installed within an hour. There are cheaper aftermarket parts out there, but I figured the original lasted almost 20 years so hopefully this one will too.And remember, if your latch handle keeps breaking, it may be due to a sticking/old/rusted latch mechanism. So don't keep replacing handles, replace this part as it may be the cause of the problem.

Worked for a few weeks.
No not sure if it is the back lock sub-assembly or the handle so will not give a complete bad review. Worked great for a few weeks but rear hatch is hard to open again. I had replaced the handle two years ago cause original broke. I did read it was recommended to replace both at the same time. This time I will replace both handle and Lock sub-assembly at the same time.

Fit '02 Sequoia perfectly. Quick install tips as well.
This is a great part with a great price. The dealer wanted $120 something for this part and this is still made by toyota. The part fit perfectly and is great quality. I literally had no issues getting it installed... getting the old one out may be tricky.Once you get your hatch open you will have to remove the lock assembly from the bottom of hatch with three 10mm bolts located under the plastic housing that just pops off. Then from the inside panel (after removing plastic panel from side verticals and door) you will have to remove the 8 10mm screws holding the black shielding on. With this removed you can reach in and move the plastic housing that holds the assembly and lock actuator. There is a cable attached to the door handle and two wire connectors on the housing that you need to remove and then the housing comes out. Once it's out you can remove the two small screws and plastic connector and then remove the plastic housing from lock assembly. The last piece is to remove the lock actuator from the old assembly with two screws and the reassemble on new lock assembly. Now just reverse all the steps to install. It really isn't too bad once you get the hatch open and it took me a little over an hour to complete.

Perfect Fit. Watch the Youtube videos on how to install.
Wanted hundreds if not at least $1,000 to make this repair. I watched a couple of YouTube videos to get an easy idea of how to do the job. This product was relatively easy to put on, if I would do it all over again I can get this and the handle installed in probably less than an hour. Works perfect the door opens and closes and locks like brand new. Make sure you get the metal handle to go with this. Might as well do them both because the original plastic handle will break guaranteed.

02 Sequoia - Works Fine!!
For 02 Sequoia Limited, it works!, fit is fine of course, but I had to mod it to work with my previously replaced "metal latch"-which is still working fine after several years, ie the finger is still intact. What the problem was for me was the lack of finger travel with respect to where the cable is anchored. So "as-is" there was not enough travel to work the latch. I had to fashion a 1/4 inch spacer out of a small, stiff, piece of circular plastic pipe [plumbing section of HD] - which I cut to size and slitted to fit over the bare cable next to the ball, with a dremel. Over the plastic I used a very small 1/4 inch wide clamp [plumbing section of HD] - So with the spacer+clamp, the cable end gets enough pull from the handle to work the latch. My first attempt at this piece was slightly too long -- it worked the latch but would NOT allow the cable to fully seat in the rest position **** THIS RESULTED IN THE LATCH NOT BEING ABLE TO STAY LOCKED, I'd lock it with the fob & a few seconds later it would unlock. Check youtube vids for rear latch,etc.,- read reviews here, it definitely beats paying dealer $600+ !!!

Great Product.
Great Product at a better price than the dealership. I had the dealer install because they were unable to get the latch and cable from Toyota. (back ordered)Dealer installed and it works perfect.Highly recommend.
