Prevents insanity!
I take minutes for meetings and recently started using headphones to listen to audio recordings. I noticed when I was recording using regular (boundary) speakers attached to my recorder that the playback was only playing in one ear of my new headphones. (Boss made me get headphones to spare others in the office) I was beside myself going CRAZY listening out of one ear and decided to educate myself on this equipment. I use this speaker with the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder DM-901. I was using regular boundary microphones daisy chained together and plugged into my recorder to record meetings. Boundary microphones (which is what most people have to record meetings) are really one directional and meant to record the subject in front of them. If you listen over regulare speakers then you probably do not notice any difference in audio coming from one side or the other although on playback the audio was always quiet for some reason then to my great luck the speakers failed completely. Just prior to the speakers dying I had gotten a nice new set of headphones with noise canceling technology (did I say super nice, and that my boss made me get them to spare my poor coworkers?) Anyway when I listened to my audio recordings I was only able to hear it through one ear. The digital recorder alone records omnidirectional which means from everywhere and will playback in both your ears/speakers but when I connected my old boundary mics to it, hate and discontent ensued. This speaker records the same way as the digital recorder (omnidirectional) so now I am able to hear my audio playback out of BOTH sides of the headphones. It records clearly and has a noise canceling effect. I LOVE IT. I am not sure what the bad reviews are saying it needs a separate power source but that is not true. I plugged it into the recorder and off I went. No other power source needed. If you want to stop driving your co-workers crazy with loud audio playback over regular speakers and want to use headphones but not drive yourself crazy with one ear listening I recommend this product. This product has literally saved lives in my office. :) Happy recording.

It' works well if you need to record many people in a room!
I've tried several boundary mics for recording focus group discussion. This one wins hands down. (especially if you need clear sound for transcribing) Sound quality is the best I have had so far.Recommend to connect it to a zoom h1 or h4.

Make My Job Easier!
I take all the minutes of meetings at my company. We have several committees, and sometimes it is not convenient to sit in on a meeting, so I record it and get the minutes from the tape. The problem is when a meeting held is at a large conference table, or you have a soft talker, or someone on speaker phone, the recorder doesn’t always clearly pick up the voices. The Olympus ME Table top microphones are the perfect solution. I place the recorder in the center of the conference table and a mic on each end of the table. The mics plug into a dual jack, which comes with the recorder. The wire length is long enough so they can be adequately spread out. When you are through, the wires coil neatly underneath each mic for easy storage. This suits my obsessive need for neatness. ;-) I keep the microphones in a desk drawer when I am not using them. They are pretty compact. The jack fit into the regular port (if that is what you call it) of my Olympus recorder. I have had the recorder for several years. I imagine they would plug into any standard jack. The sound quality is very clear and crisp. I can easily make out the voices on both sides of the room. We do have one soft talker who I still struggle to hear, but often times he is on the speaker phone and that does not help.I have also used these microphones in our large board room. I plugged them into my recorder and placed them on the dais with the speaker spread out as much as possible. I was able to hear all the voices in the board room. The room is quite large and the seats are spread out. I am pretty impressed that I was able to hear everyone. Makes my job easier! The mics are very inconspicuous. They have a sleek, attractive design. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Would definitely buy again
Absolutley love this mic. I am a court reporter who needs a reliable mic to work, and this conference mic does exactly what it says. I can pick up everything in the courtroom crisp and clear when I have to play my audio back. Would definitely recommend this mic to anyone looking for an inexpensive option.

Great Mic for a Large Room
We had to convert a large room (200 feet long x 55 feet wide with 15 foot ceilings) into a classroom due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. We purchased six of these mics and daisy-chained them together and hung them from the ceiling evenly spaced out (we used 3.5 mm stereo extension cables in-between the mics). The Olympus ME-33 mics are actually more sensitive and provide better sound quality than the $1300-$2000 ceiling mics sold to universities and churches. No one has to speak up to be heard. Yes, they're certainly visible when hung from the ceiling but no one really notices. The six mics are plugged into a Tascam DR-70D recorder which provides more than enough Phantom Power to power all six mics. We then take the audio from the DR-70D and port it into a sound system.

Works great. Note that the 3
I use the mic with a Sony HDRCX455/B camcorder. Works great. Note that the 3.5mm connector is TRS. Will not work with iPhones or iPads which require a TRRS connector.
