I was pleasantly surprised at how heavy it is and how effortlessly it shaves the ice to snow. Someone said they had metal shavings in theirs, I have not seen that and I have used it nearly every day and I use the regular sized ice cubes that come out of the ice cube tray. It's not for kids as it has a wicked sharp blade that will jump into action when the lid is only halfway closed so the kiddies need an adult with them if they want snowcones. Yes, it leaks water because there is always some small piece of ice that didn't shave, once it melts, the water runs down the neck of the machine and misses the bowl, but I put a dish towel under it and it absorbs any liquid that is leaked. I had throat surgery and I needed something to calm the pain as I cannot take narcotics of any kind because they make me vomit. when the radiation treatments began, I REALLY needed something to ease the awful pain in my throat and this little gem did the trick! I honestly don't know how I would have gotten through it without this snow cone machine. One can only eat so many popsicles and ice cream bars before they make you sick ! ( even the sugar free ones) The shaved ice with no syrupy gunk on it was a lifesaver for me. Swallowing at all was a problem but the shaved ice melted quickly and went down smoothly. Once the snowcone made the swelling in my throat go down a bit, I could actually eat a bit of food which was impossible before that. yes I had the magic mouthwash but could not taste my food as my tongue was numb from the mouthwash. If you buy one thing only, think about getting this machine. If you get sick, don't think about it- just buy it, you wont regret it, I know I don't!

You cant beat the price of this machine. Way better than those smaller portable ones you see at retail store. The motors dont last long on those. I wish the bowl was larger and deeper but i still make it happen. I put a disposable cookie sheet under this machine to catch the drippings. It would be nice if the bowl spin on its own but it isnt hard to do unless you have other things in your hand. I also wish there was a handle to transport this machine easier. I havent had a problem with any metal shavings in my drink. I think people are pushing the handle down too hard and for too long after the ice has emptied. I have a portable ice maker machine and i am NOT able to use the small or even large bullets of ice that my machine makes. This was a disappointment. I learned that if you put the ice bullets into a zip lock bag and they freeze together to make larger pieces it will somewhat work. I recommend buying an inexpensive bag of ice for the best results. I purchased the SNAPPY brand of snow cone syrups on here. They are gallon plus sized containers and inexpensive. Make sure to always dry the machine out after every use to prevent it from possible rusting. Do so after turning the power off and unplugging. In my opinion, children ages 12 and up should be able to operate this without any difficulties. Supervise at your own discretion though. This is a great starter machine for a child with supervision who wants to start a lemonade or shaved iced stand.

Used daily with my ice maker. My wife is ill so she needs plenty of soft ice.

My husband and I like everything about this product. It makes a consistency of ice that is so akin to snow that they are hard to tell apart. They can be eaten plain or with flavors such as "flavor-aid, kool-aid" without having to buy expensive bottled flavors which contain a large amount of corn syrup or other unhealthy sweeteners. This snow machine, ice shaver, makes ice taste so GOOD and have such a GREAT texture that it can be used as a diet plan, no joke! I have been replacing snacks and sweet drinks with this machine several times a day and have lost weight already.You can make EXPENSIVE coffee drinks such as those bought at big chain coffee shops and fast food dairy and burger joints. Frappe, "Moo-Latte" (Dairy Queens' Coffee Slushee) and top these with whipped cream and caramel drizzle or get creative and make your own formula. Very healthy smoothies and ice, slush based drinks with real fruit pureed and truly store this ice in separate bags if you want the ice ready in a hurry as it will fill a standard ice bag in less than ten minutes and last in the refrigerator freezer or deep freezer. It can be used as a "lemonade, slushee or sno-cone" stand ice machine as it produces many pounds of ice per hour as it claims. This would be good for a fundraising event, movie night, birthday parties, weddings or adult beverage bars. Enjoy this product! It is truly worth the price!
