I got these because a chisel I bought from Ukraine was taking too long to arrive (for obvious reasons). I knew Flexcut was a great company, but what I didn't expect was such a professionally and perfectly honed tool ready for use. I strop regularly when carving, so I expect these to last me my whole life. Heirloom tools, for sure.

I've carved with Flexcut hand driven tools for decades. I'm quite impressed that the mallet driven tools are fashioned from heavier guage steel stock and still feature the great ready-to-use-from-the-box honed edges. Great product for sculpting western white pine!

I am and always have been a Flexcut Wood Carving Tools fan, and my Dad before me. And these mallet tools have not changed, but enhanced, my opinion. 22+ years of carving. As always these tools were sharp right of the package. As these are mallet tools (but can be used as hand tools), they are larger than the other Flexcut tools I use. They do not have the flexibility as the smaller tools, but it only took me a few minutes to get used to the difference. They give a wider/deeper cut, but a smooth cut. I usually carve realistic busts, 6”-12” high, 3-5” wide, but these tools fit right in. Glad I got them to broaden my tool arsenal.

These are great tools. I do not mind the flexing, because I can use it some degree for tight spots. And they are at a competitive price compared to swiss tools. What I miss though is more variety in shapes and sizes, so I order tools from several sources to give me the variety and strength that I need.

Loved these. They worked well for ice carving! Just remember to not let them sit wet or in an moisture because they will rust easily. Great tool though

Very happy with this set. Surprised at the actual heftyness and larger size of these chisels. Worked on some seasoned Black Walnut, seasoned Mulberry, and some green Sugar Maple with relative ease. Kerps a fine edge and holds up to mallet work. The Mulberry really was the test for these gouges. A bit tough but a very nice finish to the cut.
