Easy to assemble, mount for one person. Great product so far and looks great. I got extra clips, etc which is better than not enough. I will add a durable tether and clip to keep them closed and open. It will go in the middle of the last rung. I'll drill a small hole in the center and add the clip. Shipping was great, American company and easy upgrade for the pergola. Will be enjoyed this summer. Highly recommend!

I ordered 4 of these for our back deck to add to the pergola. All 4 came with everything they were supposed to (I know a few other reviews said they were missing parts - we were not missing anything). Cut one panel off because I had more than enough and didn't want them hanging too low.Have coolaroo rolling shades on the side of the pergola. While the colors don't match, they look fine together.Keeps the direct sun off but still allows the light (not a blackout canopy).Better than the solid sunshade I was originally considering.I live in an area that can get quite windy and intense sun. So I liked the idea of retracting when not in use. We added some hooks to the pergola so we can attach the pull string to them and hold back the canopies when not in use.No long term use yet, but happy so far!

Just installed these shades this weekend, so I can’t speak on longevity yet but they look good and should make our deck more functional in the daytime (the sun is directly over us until about 4pm).Installation was easy once I understood the process…the first one took a few hours, the second took about 2 hours. Easier and quicker if you have 2 people, but I did the second one on my own (husband helped hang the first one).We cut one panel off of the end because our pergola isn’t that tall and the shade hung down too low, but now it’s perfect!I also installed a hook into the beam on each end to keep the shade anchored when it’s open and when it’s closed, because it gets pretty windy and was sliding open.I took off one star just because the hardware is kindof ugly and I wish it wasn’t visible.

So far this retractable awning has been fantastic it's great for the patio pulling it closed or pulling it open as needed. It would be nice if they had a way to keep it open or closed with wind but I suppose everybody's application is different. I use bungee straps in case the wind wants to open it at night or close it while we're out. The 1 bad part is the Carabiner pins or Springs must not be stainless or aluminum because they're slightly rusting and I'm sure it will be an issue in the future. Hoping it doesn't run down to the fabric and stain the fabric.

Regarding stains: I had just spent hours installing the hardware by myself, when I unrolled the last canopy to hang and discovered it was sent to me with several oily stains on it. I would have sent it back because it really does bother me, but being a 50 yr old woman and thinking of having to install this all over again... I decided to just live with it. Bummer, but overall, the canopy looks beautiful and provides the moderate shade and privacy I need. I intended for it to hang long on the end to block my backyard neighbor, and that worked out great. I wish the quality inspection of this distributer was better and more consistent all around. Was it easy to install?... If you are handy with tools and detail oriented (I happen to be), then it wasn't overly complicated to figure out. FYI: However, since you'll be installing something over-head with a drill, it does require arm strength and back mobility. The cable were tough to bend in the clip, and too hard for me to cut with a regular wire cutter. I'll have my neighbor come trim the excess cable with his heavy duty cable cutter when he can.
