How to Be a Good Wife Hardcover – February 15, 2008

Honestly, a fabulous book. A servant’s heart on both sides of a marriage makes for a loving and happy life. Sometimes going back to traditional advice can be life changing. I recommend wives and husbands everywhere read this book and follow the advice toward a fulfilling life together.

Makes it great engagement gift

It's a very little book. But it's cute. I enjoyed the read and it is a charming addition to my "50's Housewife" book collection.

I gave "How To Be a Good Husband," (from the Bodleian Library, Oxford University) to dear friends who were engaged to be married soon. The book has a decidedly dated British attitude and humor. It is well-dressed counsel about some of the issues that come up even in modern marriage, camouflaged in great British-style humor. My friends spent an evening together reading and laughing, as I had when I read it. At the same time, I had given them the companion book, "How To Be a Good Wife." Not all of the advice in both books, of course, applied to my American friends living in the 21st Century. Nonetheless, they found both books enchanting and entertaining. And the books provoked some serious discussion about their impending marriage. The benefit was not just humor. I recommend these books in general, and especially for the engaged-to-be-married, the already-married and any reader with an interest in early 20th Century British manners in marriage. I can see how far we've come, especially for women.

I was under the impression this book would be funny, but it just kinda irritated my wife.

Purchased as a novelty gift for an engagement party. It was a huge hit!

Giving this book to my friend before she gets married and I'm going to get a copy for myself. It's a small cute book full of good advice and I can relate to most of the info. because I am married. Love book!!!!
