worked great! my controller was super slow and was saying BBU was not present. unplugged the old one, plugged in this one, it detected it automatically, reenabled write cache, and tested capacity so now everything is normal again. I did have to reuse the old cable because the new one had a different type of connector on it

Brand new, genuine LSI Tecate part. It DOES come with a new remote extension cable, which is not pictured or listed. This is good because in my experience the cables are fragile and do fail.To replace simply disconnect the bbi and cable, wait 30s or so (gives the controller time to acknowledge. No need to change cache mode on 936x with cvm02 flash modules), then plug in the newUse megaraid storage manager, or the megacli/storcli utilities to confirm the new bbu is present and working.Megacli/megacli64 -Bbucmd -GetBbuStatus -a0 or -aAllStorcli /cx/bbu show (where X is the controller #).Occasionally you may need to reboot if new bbu is not detected.If neither the new or old bbu are detected, you need to replace the cvm02 cachevault module, or possibly the raid card itself.
