Gate Stops (Sold as Pair) Heavy Duty, Solid Forged Iron, Black

I recently built a new wooden gate after the old metal one just looked worse and worse. Since I put so much time and effort into the new gate, I wanted a pair of gate stops that would stand out against the white paint and hold up against the 125 pound Labrador and the two other dogs we have.I looked all over town for gate stops and couldn't find them. After a few minutes spent searching on Amazon and a few days awaiting delivery, I am totally happy with the gate stops I got. They're thick and heavy, and look like they'll stand up to almost anything. These were absolutely what I wanted to set off that new gate, and they perfectly matched the other hardware (hinges and lock) that I'd already mounted.

Save yourself some money and get a few L brackets and black spray paint! Had to add some nylon bumpers since these were much smaller than expected and just dug into the wood otherwise.

I purchased these gate stops to use alongside a set of hinges and latches from Snug Cottage Hardware to hang a custom Western Red Cedar crossbuck gate I built for our barn.At first glance the manufacturing seems acceptable for these gate stops, but the poor attention to detail, lack of quality control and sloppy tolerances show these gate stops are not of high quality.For instance, each of the gate stops have various sized holes with the countersink bore at different depths.One of the stops has its mounting holes at the extreme edges of the metal, making for an unsightly installation with the screw head protruding beyond the edge and setting proud (higher) than the base.Worse yet, the included wood screws are brown in color instead of black, and it's unclear if they're painted, oxidized or galvanized or made from stainless steel, so they'll likely rust if used outdoors or corrode with pressure treated lumber.At a cost of $32.95 for a simple gate accessory, I simply cannot recommend these based on my first-hand experiences.I'll be returning these and purchasing a set directly from Snug Cottage Hardware, knowing their Stainless Steel Gate Stops for Wood Gates (1400-BSS) will meet all of my expectations.
