Note to Amazon - check returns! One of my guardians had only one screw and item was not sealed in plastic as others were.

It didn't do what I wanted.
I think it is very well made. Someone posted that their sparrows couldn't use it. I bought it hoping that the sparrows COULD NOT use it. I wanted my BlueBirds to use my bird houses but it is still the sparrows using it. Wish I could find something to keep them out.

Has worked before
I ignored bad reviews saying this product did not work. When we lived in our last house, all of our bird houses had these attached and all of the houses were occupied. Bluebirds, chickadees, tufted titmice…none of the birds seemed to pay any attention to the guard. So we moved and bought new bird houses. We did not buy guards because what was once $6 is now $13 and we have about 12 bird houses. We have a game cam set up to watch the progress of our bluebirds. This is how we knew the baby bluebirds had fledged. A few days after they were gone, the video showed a raccoon all over the bluebird house one night. His nose went into the entrance as far as possible. His little paws would have easily pulled out eggs or baby birds. Since another pair of bluebirds was interested in the now empty house, we put a guard that we had never used on the bluebird house. This was about the same time I ordered these guards. As soon as we put the guard on the bluebird house, the bluebirds stopped coming to the birdhouse! I decided to return the two guards I had ordered and received, but had not opened. We took the guard off the bluebird house. It’s taken several days, but this morning the bluebird couple is again considering the birdhouse. I gave a 3 rating because these guards had worked before. I have no idea why the birds would not even get near the birdhouse.

A must have predator guard
This is a must have for your bluebird nesting boxes. I put it on one of my nesting boxes that I had painted camouflage. The predator guard color was perfect with the camouflage. I have predator birds, squirrels and raccoons around that go reaching but won’t be able to with this in place. The screws were included in the box.

Perfect for my birdhouse need
This immediately made my annual nesting bluebird worries disappear. Lots of squirrels and a particular neighbor’s cat have always shown interest after the nest was established and this little gadget replaced my primitive attempt to secure their nest and the birds did not ever seem to notice. A little pricey but the quality and reviews were good.

Believe the reviews, bluebirds won't use it.
After losing eggs twice to predators, I wanted to find a solution. I saw this Guardian but the reviews said that the bluebirds won't use it. I searched another birding store website and saw the same guard with as picture of a bluebird hanging from its perch, but it was $10 more. So I came back to Amazon and purchased the guard. I waited until the birds had laid two eggs and installed the guard. I watched for several days and noticed the birds were using the box, but it looked like they were having difficulty gaining access. I waited a few more days and checked the box to find the birds had laid one more egg. After a few more days, I noticed a lack of activity from the bird house but noticed bluebirds were using an old beat up roosting box that they had never even looked at before. So, after a few more weeks of no activity, I checked the bird house again to find three abandoned eggs. So even with an already built nest with eggs in it, the birds found this device too much of a nuisance to use.

Disappointing Results
We purchased two of these and installed on two different style bluebird houses, sadly they did not work for us. The Bluebirds either could not or would not enter through the hard plastic extender..... nice idea but just did not work out....Rating lowered to 2 stars
