Seems like good hook up wire at a good price
I read in some reviews that others were complaining about poor copper cladding and strands breaking off when stripping and long term oxidation.I can't really say about the long term, but I did strip some of this wire when I got it to check for the other issues. I'm not sure if maybe they just got some bad wire in their shipment, but this looks like pretty decent hookup wire. I don't intend on using this for high current situations, and I don't crimp the bare wire in my terminal lugs (I usually crimp on pins and at times add a touch of solder if needed). As you can see in the picture, the copper cladding looks just fine and I had no strands break off when I stripped the PVC jacket off. I also wiggled the strands around (that's why it looks so messy) and I had none break off from bending. The true test is over time to see if I have any issues with oxidation or anything else, but so far this wire seems to be just fine. I did not check the diameter of the wire to verify it it was 16 Gauge or not. I'll just say that for my application, it's just fine. I would not spec wire or any other component to be near the limit of my needs anyway. So if my wire is slightly smaller than the 16 gauge, it should still be well within the specs I need.

Copper Clad Aluminum & Wire strands could be a little thicker. Not crimping friendly.
This wire is copper clad aluminum and each strand is very thin. It DOES NOT CRIMP WELL with butt end connectors. If you want a solid reliable connection, make sure you solder the butt end connections.
