Ambrosia Creamed Rice Pudding 400 g (Pack of 12)

I've had this before so I knew what to expect. If you don't like the taste of evaporated milk, do NOT buy this because the base flavor is a strong evaporated milk taste.I haven't had this in a while once I moved away from an area with international grocery stores, so I decided to go for a case since my closest in person store was selling them for $7 a can. First, every single can came crushed. It comes in a 3x4 can cardboard tray and it's wrapped in a heavy plastic. I've posted a pic from one of the least damaged cans. That can has those dents all around the base and the top, others had it in the middle as well. Amazon shipped it with 10 boxes of gluten free crackers thrown loose in the Amazon box. They arrived as over $50 worth of gluten free dust (not even big enough to be called bread crumbs, truly dust). You'd think the cans would be ok with all that "padding" they had but each one was dented all the way around the can. Like The Hulk squeezed each can before packing. Even the center cans! I wasn't about to throw away over $30 worth of pudding after the cracker debacle (Amazon didn't care about either the crackers or the pudding since they're food items and can't be returned) so I ate them. Normally I'm hesitant with crushed cans and the FDA says don't eat ones with sharp crushed corners, which these had (see my picture). So far I haven't had any bathroom issues after eating, and I've only got a few cans left, so thankfully they were still edible apparently.They tasted like I remember. It's a shelf stable product so the milk base tastes exactly like evaporated milk straight from the can without dilution. Stronger than a shelf stable boxed milk flavor. It's a strong flavor, so before buying a whole case make sure you're ok with that flavor. Secondly, despite coming from the country with more candy bars and candies than even USA with our sugar addiction, this is NOT a sweet pudding. Others I've given this to try have added sugar or honey to it. It's way less sweet than Jello pudding or Kozy Shack. I like it that way, then I can add a dollop of a fruit preserve, raisins, maple syrup, or anything I want to control the sweetness and adjust the flavor to give it more depth. It is a bit bland and probably could have gone with a bit more vanilla, but I can also see why the company would leave it and let consumers adjust it to their own tastes.Some have mentioned the rice is hard. Without buying a Kozy Shack and comparing it side by side in a taste test, I don't think it's any harder than any US brand rice pudding. Much softer and it would turn into the rice pudding equivalent of mashed potatoes by the time you get it.Is it homemade pudding? No. It's a shelf stable pudding that's there when you need it or are craving something and don't want to leave the house or cook. It's not that hard to alter the taste if you want, but don't buy it expecting it to taste like homemade pudding that took you an hour to make.If it matters, I bought it from the vendor Accordo Health and Groceries. I don't know if the crushed cans were crushed when they shipped them to the US or if it's Amazon's fault so that's why I mentioned them.

Satisfies those who want rice pudding in a hurry, without any more effort than opening a can. It’s ok—nothing special—but nothing wrong with it, either.

The media could not be loaded. Atleast 6 cans were damaged.The contents itself, rice is hard not soft.Cream is thin, not thick and creamy the way it should be.I order this product on a regular basis, Atleast monthly.I'm also from Scotland, and grew up eating Ambrosia creamed rice all my life.This order I hate writing this, but disgusting to say the least.Opened 3 out of 12 cans, all were the same way.Remaining cans going in the garbage.$38 goes into garbage, non returnable items, no response from seller.

Two cans from a pack of 12 were inedible. There was too much liquid and the rice was not properly cooked. Customer Service was useless for an explanation.
