Fantastic TV for the money, but make sure to disable soap opera effect!
I have had this TV for 10 days now and I wanted to share my feelings on the positives, negatives, and overall traits. I did extensive research on Youtube and Amazon before landing on this one. I was moving up from a 60" plasma Samsung which I was moving into my living room, to replace a 42" Panasonic plasma which I am moving outdoors to my patio. I've owned several Samsung TVs. Here are my thoughts:Positives:- Great packaging. The box has a "pull off top" that allows you to expose the TV while it is standing upright and easily get your hands under it to lift if straight out. There was plenty of styrofoam and the screen and TV overall were clean and devoid of scratches or cracks.- Delivery. I paid the extra few dollars for "delivery to any room" and the delivery team took it straight to my home theatre in the basement. Both were very nice and wearing masks and arrived on time.- 4K picture. I have watched hours of 4K content on Youtube to test the color, dynamic range, etc. It's brilliant! Really blew me away. I would recommend (after making this mistake myself) to not get too wrapped up in all the comparisons and little distractions brought up in various Youtube videos. The reality is a 2020 Samsung 4K TV is going to look pretty amazing. The reviewers get down into crazy details that the average person just won't notice.- Setup. The setup for the remote, Smart TV options, etc, was SUPER easy. It automatically paired to the Samsung sound bar I also bought, and also automatically connected to my cable TV box (Spectrum) and the setup of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video was done in minutes.Negatives and Annoyances:- The remote kinda sucks. It is very small (same size as an Amazon Fire TV remote) and has minimal buttons. I've learned to use it just fine, but I really don't understand this dumb concept of "minimalist" TV remotes. If you are using the remote in a dark media room, it's basically impossible to see the buttons. And the remote has no backlite or glow-in-the-dark features. Also, the volume and channel buttons are narrow little toggles that you click literally forward/backward instead of just pressing up or down. Really, just stupid design. Not a dealbreaker, but terrible nonetheless. ALSO, the soundbar remote is basically IDENTICAL, but without channel or Home options. I can't tell you how many times I grab the wrong remote in the dark. Overall, the remote sucks.- SOAP OPERA EFFECT ENABLED OUT OF THE BOX - Disable this! It ruins 4K movies! You can do your own research on this topic, but bottom line, this TV (like many competitors) automatically enables "motion smoothing technology" which might be OK for sports, but RUINS real 4K movies. But don't despair! Just disable LED Clear Motion in the Expert Settings, and the problem is solved.- Sound. The soundbar also, for whatever dumb reason, comes set up with "sound delay" which means moving mouths do not match the sound. This is also an option you can fix easily in Expert Settings, but again, so stupid for it to be enabled. It should not even be an option in my opinion.Overall: Really love it and would recommend. Note, I am not using it for gaming, just streaming movies and regular TV. Beautiful picture, easy setup, good packaging and delivery, and very easy-to-use smart TV options. I would definitely buy it again!

had TV 6 mos - pic and volume going out
Was on with one customer service rep and was going to send a tech until I was dumb enough to be honest and tell him our picture came back on. Our pic is going in and out and has been for FOUR days.I had to make a SECOND phone call to get a tech to come out to fix or request a replacement.First call was about 1 hour. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!We live in the country. They have no tech in our area. SURPRISE!! So, they have dispatch search for a tech now. 24-48 hours to respond on this status. NOT HAPPY will NEVER purchase a samsung again.Calling again today - 06/16/21 - on second phone call as first rep was telling me up to 48 more hours for a response from ANYONE (including option to speak to a supervisor as so far NOTHING has been done to fix our TV whose pic has gone OUT)So, dispatch has NOT done the job I was told two days ago WOULD be done. Current rep is now searching. So far, Samsung is WORTHLESSFinally, the FIFTH person I spoke with has finally resolved our problem. We SHOULD have a refund now being processed. Of course, Samsung ALWAYS says 24-48 hrs for any process. I have a problem with this as well. This ALL started Sunday. I get a phone call END from Samsung's Exchange and Refund team. They send me a link that does NOT go ANYWHERE. I tried it SEVERAL times on two devices. I call them AGAIN. I get forwarded to an office that CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They want documentation signed with the model number label on the documentation, sent back to them. I bet this takes more than a WEEK to get them to BEGIN our refund process.DAILY Samsung's customer service is HORRIBLE. ONE person was helpful and got me this damned far.Its been more than a week since this WHOLE process with our TV pic going OUT.Now, what was a VERY confusing request - they called to ask for the SN label to be removed from the TV so that they could see it removed. I sent them a photo of having removed it. NEXT, supposedly it will now take 3-5 bus days to process our refund. THAT's about a TWO week process to get Samsung to settle our tech problem with our TV. AND, we do NOT yet have a refund.Removing the SN label is a COMPLETELY stupid thing to do as they are not EVEN retrieving the TV. Clearly NOTHING more than a delay tactic like all the other steps I have had to experience.I believe it has been like THREE weeks since our TV went out and NO refund yet. Samsung still wants more info - apparently, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to delay refunding for defective merchandise.07/21/21 - STILL an INCOMPLETE PROBLEM. They texted me that our refund had been processed, THEN they texted me that our bank had rejected our refund. I contacted our bank, confirmed my banking information that I printed paperwork to monitor. Our bank told me NO reason for a refund rejection. I let Samsung know through text there was no reason for a rejection. They NEVER responded to me. I am on the phone with them AGAIN - was already told our refund was processed. I told him the above - he is checking on it. Agent now has to check to find out where they have no record of a rejected refund. I KNEW this was going to happen. Been watching our mail for a check - NEVER received. This ALL began 06/13/21. OVER a month and STILL NOT resolved. NO surprise.Any of you still purchasing from Samsung - smh. (they do not want us to get rid of our TV until our refund is process - so GUESS WHAT?? We have been storing our TV ALL this damn time).BTW - EVERY agent is SO nice and SO apologetic - yet its 5 weeks now and our refund for our TV is still OUTSTANDINGThey had ME call Citibank and provide a Acct Number. Citibank knew NOTHING about this. I am back on the phone with Samsung, told the agent NO refund received. Transferred me to case management. NOW I learn that Samsung's process is a new process. Samsung is SUPPOSED to send refund info to Citibank and Citibank is supposed to send a link to process refunds. ANOTHER 24-48 hours process.08/02/21 - I REALLY hope Samsung losses business over this. I phoned Samsung AGAIN yesterday - informed them STILL no refund!! I just received another call from a Christine - JUST called to ask if we had received our refund????? NOOOOOO. (that was the ONLY question she had. NOT her job to make sure we get our refund)I really hope people are reading this review. Sad that Samsung is so HARD up that they can't refund $400!!ONGOING saga STILL two months now - NO refund. NUMEROUS phone calls, all apologetic reps with NOTHING resolved. therefore, apologies and sympathies are worthless!!
