) If you're a Sandman diehard or a fan of Dave McKean's wonderfully psychedelic artwork
Think of this book as the companion book to the Dust Covers (coincidentally re-released around this time.) If you're a Sandman diehard or a fan of Dave McKean's wonderfully psychedelic artwork, then this book is a must have. It's like watching the evolution of McKean's unique artwork throughout the years. Gorgeously captured, I think this book will be on my coffee table a lot.

What happened to the packaging?
The product fortunately was in great condition. However the packaging was torn in a couple places. Most likely occurred during transit. It could have been much worse. The book was exposed and visible through the torn packing envelope

When you want to show people what comics can be, you show them this
“Dream State: The Collected Dreaming Covers,” collects Dave McKean's covers for “The Dreaming,” “Sandman Presents” and the new series “Sandman: Overture,” as well as his art for another new story by Gaiman, “Fish Out of Water.” Taken together with the newly re-released hardcover edition of "Dust Covers," which includes all his Sandman covers, they’re a history of the evolution of McKeans' work over a decade, and no fan of “Sandman” or art or cool stuff should be without them.

LOVED the art as it is Dave McKean
Bought this when it first came out. LOVED the art as it is Dave McKean. But I would have to agree with a fellow reviewer, the paper is sub par, which was a surprise since it is indeed an art book. I have only looked through it once (maybe twice) because the paper is so weak. I had also ordered the new printing of Dust Covers but am afraid to even open it since the paper is the same. I have the old version and the paper is far superior (glossy, thick) to this new printing. If you are a McKean fan, then this is a must add to your library... but again, be careful with handling the pages.

Great book, great cover, bad paper ...
Great book, great cover, bad paper ... print quality is not bad but the paper is too thin for my taste. A real disappointment as it is an art book. Recommended to all fans of Dave Mckean but handle with care ...
