Best Licorice We've Found!
We have tried many kinds of licorice over the years. Some are tasteless or hard, too mushy or just plain bad tasting. This one is our favorite. We are happily chewing our way through a 2 lb bag, one of several we have purchased from Amazon. Highly recommend it!

REAL licorice, soft and chewy
I've had this licorice many times over the years, although this is the first time I've bought it on Amazon. The flavor is authentic and strong, since it contains real licorice root extract and molasses. The texture is very soft and chewy, and it will stick to your teeth somewhat. But I prefer it over artificially flavored, plasticky American licorice like Twizzlers. Real licorice has health benefits, too! It's high in iron, it's soothing to ulcers and coughs, it works as a mild laxative, and it has been proven to have anti-bacterial and anti-viral qualities. It's not a candy you can sit and eat mindlessly - four large pieces contains 140 calories, 19 grams of sugar and 31 grams of carbs. Plus re-read the laxative part above. But with licorice this rich and delicious, a couple of pieces is enough. I think of Kookaburra licorice as candy for adults.

This is a really good buy for Australian licorice, but it’s not the tastiest I have eaten.
I would give this product five stars, but the taste is not as good as some other AustraliaN licorice that I have purchased in the last several months. I like that I can buy 2 pounds at once and I like that it is cut just right, but I can’t appreciate the taste as much as I wish I could despite the product being great value for money. you’ll have to taste it yourself to make it determination. So I can say everything is just right with this product, but it’s not as tasty as it could be.

Does more than just taste good.
Occasionally I have problems swallowing (aka dysphasia). In researching natural alternatives, I learned that natural licorice can help relax the throat & relieve painful swallowing. But most of what passes for "licorice" in stores today relies on artificial flavor & has too much sugar. Kookaburra is different. Good texture & taste, not too sweet & flavor of real licorice. I usually have a couple of pieces about 20 min before each meal. Can't swear by it but over the past yr my dysphasia is much reduced.

It’s just OK. Not as good as genuine Kookaburra Licorice
I love kookaburras licorice. It is the best black licorice. I go out of my way to buy it. Friends gift me with it. However, The clear bag on the left is called kookaburra but it’s not the same. Pictured on the right in the colorful yellow black resealable foil bags is the real deal. The stuff pictured on the left isn’t bad but it also has the waxy taste of “Australian Style” Licorice that I can buy anywhere. It’s ok. The texture, softness and taste is that of a knock off and not the genuine kookaburra licorice that I’ve enjoyed for years. Buy the real Kookaburra in the packages on the right. It’s fabulous.

The best licorice I've ever had
I like Australian-style licorice better than the hard-to-find American version, and I like this brand better than the two or three other Australian-style brands I've tried. The packaging - a clear, plastic, resealable bag (think Ziploc) is a plain as can be, but it makes sense for an online order and long-term consumption. Two pounds is a lot of licorice but don't worry - I'll eat it. And it's an economical way to buy an exotic delicacy.

What evil just befell my house?
I am usually a fan of black licorice. Especially Aussie style black licorice. ESPECIALLY Kookaburra. But what arrived on my door step, has got to be the worst tasting black licorice I've ever had the misfortune to chomp. Akin to chewing rubber, with a deeply gross after taste. Not soft, but bizarrely crumbly. I cannot in good faith, believe this is Kookaburra. Especially since there is no Kookaburra brand on this bag, and is instead labeled as something else. So why is it being sold under the Kookaburra name? It's been over 30 minutes since eating some, and so far I cannot get the after taste out. I have brushed my teeth, I have gargled with mouth wash, and still that taste lingers. I'm about to grab straight whiskey, because that burn and taste HAS to exorcise whatever evil licorice demon, that has attached itself in my mouth. I award this licorice 1 star, and may god have mercy on the soul of whoever produced this abomination.
