Good floor protection for construction zones, paint protection isn't best use
This is a nice floor protection film, which is definitely a great invention. This roll is medium duty and has good adhesion on carpet and smooth surfaces. It's comparable to other 3 mil films and has a moderate tack. It is reverse wound, so the sticky side is out on the roll. That is a nice feature. At first I was surprised to see so many other reviewers were using this for painting, but but I suppose it does list that as one use in the listing. You could do that, but it can be finicky to place precisely just for the length of a painting job; better to just use a drop cloth. In my experience, this type of film-- and this is a medium duty entry in that category-- is used to protect the parts of a site that are not under construction. Renovating your bathroom? What's going to happen to the carpet or floors in the hallway leading to from the bathroom to the front door as you haul debris out while wearing boots covered in bits of broken up grout? That's when you break out this stuff and leave it in place until all the dirty work is done. You vacuum it at the end of each day, and when you pull up that film, the floor is none the worse for wear.

The value for the amount of coverage is outstanding, and the application is easy.
Like with most things, preparation is key. Make sure the substrate you intend on protecting is dust free and broadly uncontaminated, and this product will serve you well.I am surprised by the durability- even though the film is thin, it is quite protective. And although maybe it isn't intended to protect wood from big scrapes like some thicker cardstock type rolls, this will prevent the inevitable marring that will come from high traffic and boots/shoes covered in abrasive construction material. If you anticipate dragging a lot of stuff over this surface, I would recommend using this more as an underlayment with a little more resilience, but if you intend on protecting a floor from hazing and finish degradation, this is a premium option at a great price- 800 square foot rolls is absolutely awesome.

Not sure if sticky on the outside is the norm, but may cause the roll to pick up dirt!
I picked up some of this floor protection film in preparation of our move and to help protect the floor from dirty shoes, etc. from scratching it up.Well, upon unboxing, I noticed that the outside of this roll was sticky. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but I suppose in a way it does make it easy to unroll. It just happens to pick up dirt and lint being sticky side out. It's helpful to save the outer wrapper to store it when you're done.As far as the thickness of this roll, it's reasonable, but it does seem a bit on the medium to light thickness. Something sharp may still penetrate, but it will at least protect against some basic spills.I also noticed that the adhesive wasn't super sticky. The best way to describe it was like a sticky note. might be good for some types of flooring, but a disaster for others. A clean floor is definitely better to start with. While I appreciate this was made in the USA, it just needs to be a touch stronger in both the adhesive and thickness/durability. I would like to know that I am going a little overkill for my floor.

For one-time use only, but sticks well and keeps dust/paint away
This is a good option to cover floors and other parts of your work area before starting a messy project. Unlike tarps or other drop clothes, it's a disposable solution priced inexpensively at about 10 cents a square feet. Some other reviews mention issues with sticking, but I didn't have any problems on hardwood and wall-to-wall carpet. For best results, you might want to roll it out slowly and in short stretches. One issue I had was with the overall width of the roll which at 4 feet turned out to be harder to manage, and less flexible when attempting to use in small areas. This is on me though, and next time I'll use a 3ft version which should be easier to handle alone. Recommended as a good, affordable option to use on large projects or multiple jobs.

Great for protecting wood floors
I used this for painting rooms. This worked better than expected. I was unsure that it would be easy to use, but the fact that the adhesive is on the outside of the roll made it easy to roll out without another person. I was expecting that the adhesive side would be like a roll of tape and toward the inside. That makes it hard to lay it down as a single person. This worked much better. The only drawback that I see with the adhesive side being outwards, is how you have to store it. Keep the box and keep it in the box to keep dust....from accumulating on the sticky side.Final words,...work great!
