... this in his aquarium to monitor the hot and cool side as well as humidity
I recently got a Ball Python and use this in his aquarium to monitor the hot and cool side as well as humidity. It works extremely well for this purpose - having the ability to monitor heat and humidity at the same time is awesome and it's definitely much more accurate than the cheap round dials the pet store throws at you!

Easy to read!
Wish the cord for the sensor was about a foot or two longer, kinda short. Unit is otherwise perfect and damned accurate and easy to read, not a million buttons to press. Shows everything u need on one screen!

Excellent... EXCEPT for the short cord
This little unit is great, with indoor and outdoor humidity and temp, in a large easy to read display. Very basic, yet very functional. I would have given it a 5, but for the extremely short remote cord. It's only a couple feet long, it needed to be about 10' long to do what I needed done.

Outdoor humidity sensor issue . . . Extech replaced promptly at no cost
It worked great for a year and then I experienced the previously reported problem with the outdoor humidity readings being way off (e.g. 12% when it was raining).I emailed Extech support and a few days later was sent a replacement unit (the whole thing, not just the external probe) at no cost. No hassles with proof of purchase or warranty dates.I would have rated this four stars due to the humidity sensor problem but Extech certainly earned five stars with their customer support.Update: The replacement unit appears to have a slightly different design to the external sensor internal components although the exterior shell is identical. So there's hope that the replacement units will not suffer the same demise as the originals.

Accurate and easy to use
I required a decent quality hydrometer for gardening work. However, I wasn't willing to shell out $300 plus that it takes to obtain a lab quality device. I previously tried one other vendor's electronic device for @ $60, and that was not accurate, and died after two months. I tried an analog device, but had trouble finding one with a decent size face for reading without removal from green house. That required manual calibration, and also was not accurate, and very slow to show changes in humidity. This device is incredibly sensitive and accurate even when reading up to 99%! Large display is easy to read. Anything comparable is hundreds of dollars.yes, it would be nice to have a longer cord, but I understand that would effect it's accuracy and cost.

Chicom Junk
I had thought that I was buying a precision piece of test equipment By "Extech" which is more then likely some kind of made up chinese name to make sound good. After placing the battery in I notice the humitity and the temp for inside and out were complete different. Let it settle for a little while and took it outside and let it sit. Same thing both indoor and outdoor were 10 degrees off on temp and no where near the same om humidity. I would file this this as chicom JUNK. Do not but anything that is made by Extech its a chinese scam.

got this for my sauna
It's expensive to be curious sometimes, I wanted to know what the humidity and temp was at various levels in my sauna so I got this. It works OK.The sauna itself has a sensor in the ceiling, guess where the temp is the highest. Anyway, I hung the readout at about eye level (sitting) and let the probe hang down to about knee level to get an idea of the temp range. All three readouts show a different temp as expected and to my surprise even the humidity varies by height. Swapping the readout for the remote sensor let me know that the temp and humidity was being read correctly and placing the remote sensor next to the one in the ceiling shows that they disagree by only a couple of degrees. I have no way of checking the accuracy of any of the three temp sensors but they are close enough. The only thing that might be a problem with this item is the size of the cable to the remote sensor, it's pretty thick and there's no way to remove the remote sensor to allow the cable to be pushed though a hole.
