Another fine tool you'll never regret buying.
Starrett makes some of the best tools you'll ever use. This center punch is no exception. The tip is sharpened to a fine point and is durable. Do yourself a favor and buy the right tool for the job the first time. If you don't, you'll buy it after you throw the first piece of junk in the scrap bin.

While just a Punch, it's the best Punch I've ever owned.
I use this as a center-punch for screws and forstner / brad-point drill bits. Probably one of the finest punches I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The machining is absolutely perfect, the weight is perfect, and most importantly, the tip is spot on and easily visible up next to the workpiece for easy placement on your marks. It's true Starrett quality through and through.Yes, there are cheaper punches out there, an ~$8 for a punch can seem pricey, especially if you are striving for a set of different diameters and lengths. Having said that, I feel confident that this punch will withstand years and years of use and that you will not regret owning it.

Worked perfectly for staking a castle nut
I used this for staking the castle nut on my AR 15. This size punch is perfect. The point was extremely sharp when new, it has blunted slightly after a few uses but still does its job very well. My first couple of practice stakes were meh, but my third attempt was superb.

High quality made in USA
Starrett hasn't let me down. This is the only Starrett i can afford but great for punching metal for pilot drill bits. Looks attractive and knurling is clean and sharp. No imperfections.

Makes a dent
This feels like a quality tool. It worked as advertised for the first few times but dulled quickly when a used on mild steel
