Why do people inside on comparing this product to freshly grated cheeses? Yes, freshly grated is going to be a LOT better, that's a given!! Get a grip people! Pretty much everyone knows what they're looking for when they buy Kraft Parmesan grated cheese. It's quick, it's easy, pop it open and sprinkle it on your lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, popcorn, whatever and enjoy! No muss no fuss!I used to buy this product in the bigger containers from 'warehouse' stores, which I'm sure most of you are aware of which ones I'm talking about. However, because of the time it took to go through the container and the amount of space it took up in the fridge, I stopped buying them because it would usually start to clump where moisture would get to it. These containers are just the right size to use without them getting clumpy if you're like us and go through one of these on average every month give or take. And honestly, we checked pricing at the grocery stores and we couldn't beat the price, either!!Thank you Amazon for making this product available to us, we greatly appreciate it!!

Unsure of what the "sell by" date would be on the cannisters for $2.19 each (my price breakdown for the case when I purchased), I contacted a friend who's both a frugal expert and part-Italian. Because the cannisters are sealed, she assured me they can be tucked into the door of my freezer for long term storage. My family loves cheese; grocery store shelf prices for Kraft Grated Parmesan in the 8 ounce cannister is more than $4.00 each now. We regularly eat pastas and salads, but I'd stopped buying the grated parmesan in our stores due to the steep price. I ordered a case of this from Amazon for myself, and had another shipped to my sister. In each case, the cannisters have a "sell by" date of July 2012. We'll be popping some into our freezers, and I'll update here if there's a problem, but at nearly half price it was worth the risk.As an aside, not every product in a grocery store is far out from its "sell by" date, and those products don't get marked down until they reach it. At $2.19 each from Amazon, I can easily move one cannister from the freezer to the fridge as needed.
