Q: After 3 months of successful operation my evdc500's bottom water tank is overflowing? has anybody come across this problem? any advice?

Q: Has anyone put a few drops of essential oils in these things? Does it negatively affect the machine?

We suggest you DO NOT add essential oils to the water. Oils added to the water will be trapped in the filter wicks and will shorten the life of the wicks. Also, some oils can damage the plastic of the water tank and of the base of the humidifier.

Q: Faulty unit? my evdc300 won't stay on even on continuous. the light pulsates even though it has water. is it a bad sensor? how do i check?

Had the same problem. No fix I could see, tried a couple of thinks, nothing worked. There is a circular float on attached to the main unit. If you lift it up from the water tray and turn it over you will see it. I contacted their customer service, no help. Returned and bought one made by a different company. Suggest you do the same.

Q: Can the base and reservoir go in the dishwasher for cleaning?

Only hand wash this Humidifier. Dishwasher soaps are too abrasive and will scratch up the plastic and allow bacteria and mildew to grow in the scratches. And that's the last thing you want to be breathing in. Luckily the EVDC500 is super easy to clean. It's easier to maintain than those Ultrasonics.
