No soldering required to use external antenna
This camera board comes with the antenna resistor soldered correctly for using the external antenna. No microscopic soldering is necessary to use the external antenna. The camera correctly orients up/down and normal vs. mirror view. No problem uploading code or using 5volt input power pin. Thanks.

Works great from farther away.
The micro surface mounted jumper is set for antenna. Works great!

Would buy it again
Working without any issues. Antenna resistor correctly soldered. Can upload code using ftdi board. AI-thinker module configuration works without any changes. No complains. Connected it to my solar panel/3.7 Volt battery/battery charger and it has no issues to connect via Wifi and sending pictures to my programmed location.

it functions but its difficult to work with
So this module functions but it's not very easy to work with. There are not many pins on this board which is a problem if you need to add other devices to it. You can use Arduino IDE to program it but because it doesn't have a dedicated programming usb connection you need an FTDI or serial programmer to be able to program it. The FTDI connection occupies two pins and then you need to ground an additional pin (GPIO0) in order to reboot it into "programming mode." So that leaves you with about 7 pins to work with while its connected to a programmer. A SPI device will occupy an additional 5 of those pins, leaving you with 2 free pins. To get a SPI display working I connected as follows (these are IO pin numbers, not the physical pin number, code will probably expect these IO numbers as well): CLK=14, DIN=13, DC=12, CE=15, RST=2

Problems with Product and Unresponsive Seller
We purchased this as a Christmas gift for our son to do some coding and building with. Unfortunately, we've been unable to get this or the other module we purchased with it to work. I'm not sure if the error is with the product or if it's a user error. We reached out to the seller hoping that maybe if it was our own error, they would be able to point us to a solution, but have not gotten any response.I'm hoping they monitor reviews and reach out so that we can resolve the situation. Otherwise, I'll have to return this product and assume it was faulty. Will update the review if the seller responds.UPDATE: seller reached out. When we described the problem with the error code and asked for suggestions they said to try another camera and "have a nice life". I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are non native English speakers and didn't mean it the way it came across. When I responded saying we had tried both cameras and both gave us the same error code they asked for my home address for better communication (?) and for a video of the problem. Having sent the error code, I didn't think a video was going to help and was not giving out my personal information. I updated my star rating from 1 to 2 since they did respond, but I returned the product.

PSRAM Defective
I wasted a bunch of time diagnosing this. The PSRAM chip is defective. I'm awaiting a replacement, but I still have to go to the trouble of returning the old one.
