This vacuum will suprize you when you first turn it on!
I received my new Prolux Tritan vacuum about and a half ago. Upon picking up the box I was thinking, oh man, this is awful light for a real house vacuum. But when I opened it up and started taking the parts out I was immediately impressed with the stem, fairly thick metal with a nice length adjustment mechanism (I'm 6-2), and the joining of the hose to machine and accessories, very clean and well thought out, and made. When I turned it on I was truly impressed, it actually has too much suction on high and IMMEDIATELY stuck to an oriental rug, picking it up! Then I realized that the only noise is suction noise, the unit is virtually silent compared to the Kenmore Elite I was replacing. More power, far less noise, rolls smoother and the suction at half speed still easily exceeds the Kenmore for half the price or less.I am impressed, and that's not easy. I can't speak on its life expectancy, but it feels like it's built to last. Also the cord return mechanism is robust, no need to help it along at all.If you're looking for a good quiet vacuum with a lot of power and a well designed filter bag and Hepa filter combo, the Prolux Tritan is a very strong American product, buy it!

SUPER LITTLE SUCKER!
I needed a lightweight vac with great suction. I purchased an upright that cost twice as much as the Prolux and sent it back after two minutes because it was cheap and difficult to use. Read tons of reviews on Amazon and chose this little beauty. When it first arrived, I thought, Oh, no, it's just like my little Bissell. Very very similar design except this one is white and a bit smaller. The Bissell is black. I don't know which company designed the product, but it would seem that Bissell tried to copy this very effective little vac because although the features are very similar, the performance is not the same. I used to run the Bissell over and over the same spots before I finally would give up and just pick up the dirt and put it in the trash. The Prolux sucked the heck out of my floors, carpets, walls and most important of all, the corners where those pesky spiders live. (Got bit by a brown recluse two weeks ago. Fortunately, my neighbor gave me some bentonite clay which I mixed with apple cider vinegar and made a paste that I applied every 6 hours for 3 days - it completely healed and it was a nasty looking wound. Bentonite clay is good stuff to keep on hand for any bites.)Anyway, back to this vac. I could actually feel it sucking the hardwood floors. I like the dial where you can leave it on the quiet minimum setting which is still a lot of suction. The higher suction is serious. Usually, I hate vacuuming because I don't like the noise, but this vac cleans so well I don't mind the little whistling it makes when it's on the max setting. The only negative is the accessory tools have a little holder but there's no place to really attach it where they don't fall off. The performance makes up for that inconvenience. I just stuck the crevice device in my pocket and carried it with me.Another plus is the bag situation. When you close the door, the hose fits directly into the bag. You can't make a mistake and get it wrong. And the filters are easy to clean or change. The vac came with 5 extra bags so I am set for a while. This little vac is well worth the money, I think. I'll have to see how it does over the long term, but I have high expectations. The Bissell is going to the thrift store as a donation.

Didn’t last over a month
At first I loved this vacuum. It’s light weight, the suction was decent. Then I went to buy replacement bags and it no longer worked. The suction was awful. I ended up throwing it away.

A good vacuum but design could be better!
Worst four things about it:1. The headpiece does not connect to the hose with that mechanism where you push a metal button and it snaps into place on the plastic head. Instead, you just use brute force. This is bad because the head either falls off while vacuuming a rug due to the suction being so hard (which yes- is great) but then head gets pulled off! And also because when you WANT to get it off, you've shoved it on so hard that now you can't quickly take it off! It's difficult and awkward to do so and I've needed help countless times. DOH!2. The hose length is slightly too short. I find I'm dragging the canister towards me more than I did with my beloved Kenmore Magic Blue. Plus it's kinda heavy so it always feels a bit much to drag it so often it while vacuuming.3. The power button is on the canister rather than the handle. Yes- I knew this when I bought it but I was hoping to get over it. I have not. Not to mention the two buttons on the canister (retract and power) look identical from a standing position so I had to color the power one with a silver sharpie so I could stop stepping on the wrong button half the time! WHY more vacuums aren't controlled by the handle is beyond me! I want to stop power quickly when I suck up the wrong thing. Not chase after the base and remember which button to step on! (As an aside, the power also comes on slowly. You step on it and think you didn't get it because it doesn't start instantly so you step on it again only to find it WAS on it just takes two seconds longer than normal. Sounds trivial but you'll also find it annoying, I'm sure!)4. The extra tools are not stored in the canister. They say "on board" but that means an annoying and awkward plastic holder that attaches to the wand that the tools are somehow supposed to stay on? You can't even swipe under a couch without it falling off. So now my tools are god-only-knows-where because they don't live in the base. The four best things about it:1. It actually does SUCK!! In a good way! You can dial down the suction (min to max) and sometimes you really have to because it's so powerful!2. There are two stands for the wand. When the canister is down, there's a slot on the side to park the wand. When it's standing up for storage there's another spot you slide the wand into. (However, those little plastic grooves seem like they won't last long but we'll see!)3. I enjoy the white color of it. :)4. The first bag lasted me more than a month of heavy use!11/18 EDITED TO ADD:- So yeah, those little plastic slots to slide the wand into during times of storage I talked about as a good thing? The one on the side broke several months ago. Boo.- Also need to add a dislike... for whatever reason the canister flips over all the time while vacuuming and it takes awhile to realize you've been dragging it upside down. I think it can't handle the speed at which I pivot during use and it just flops over. So yeah. Annoying.
