I used the paste with (6) QFP-24 ICs. Worked fine.I wonder about longevity because it’s dated Expired March 3 2025 (received in Jan 8th). We’ll see.

The product I received has a mfg date of 2021-08-10 and a claimed expiration date of 2022-08-09. (1 year) that doesn't exactly match the product's description "Shelf Life Refrigerated >6 months, un-refrigerated >2 months". Note the mfg datasheet says "Chip Quik® solder paste is guaranteed for 12 months from date of manufacture, regardless of refrigeration." Based on this, I expect it to last 12 months. I plan to refrigerate it.I tried it on an SMD soldering practice board on 0603 and 0402 devices. I applied the paste directly from the tube using the provided plunger. When using the metal tip, the paste stuck to the tip and not the board. However when using the plastic tip it worked well. The plunger is stiff, but I think that worked better for me to avoid over dispensing (which I did a little anyway).I used an IR plate at 190C for 4 minutes, followed by a 259C heat gun at lowest air speed. I didn't have any trouble with components blowing away. I did one row of components at a time. Neighboring components did not un-solder or blow away (there's lots of room on this test board anyway)compare the results with the hand-soldered 0805 components. There is some residual flux which I have not yet cleaned off the board.
