Great material, would buy again!
After doing some research and listening to suggestions, I purchased this material to use for covering some dash pieces in my car. The dash on the car had been scratched from previous owners and was showing its age. In the end, I was able to renew the look of my dash and add a unique touch as well. I chose the carbon fiber material because the original dash had a pattern from the factory and I did not want a solid color. It was a bit tricky to apply, especially because most of the dash pieces I covered have compound curves, but with a lot of patience and a heat gun, I was able to apply the material and it came out great! Thus far, the material is holding up well. Its winter time right now and the temps have been fairly cold, with a few occasional days into the 70s and so far I have had no issues with the material raising or any other problems. I am interested to see how it holds up once we have 90+ degree temps this summer. Honestly, I dont expect to have issues since this material is made for use on external automotive surfaces, I expect everything will be just fine! The roll I received did have a bit of a crease in it, which I believe was a shipping issue since the box did look like it might have been bent in the same area. While this might have been an issue, I decide to keep it since i was covering several separate pieces. I figured I would be able to work around the crease. I did end up having to use the creased area, but was able to work it out fairly easily with a little heat applied and just a slight amount of stretching while applying that portion of the material.Overall, a great product that I will go to again if the need occurs!

Perfect on Flat Surfaces... but....
I am a fan of the 3M Scotchprint products. I have put up 4 full sets of clear bra and numerous little pieces of CF wrap.Pros:The finishing quality of this CF pattern is second to none. It stands out so well and the pattern is well defined especially under the sun. Compared to those super-cheap version that I had used in the past, the adhesive is much stronger yet it would not leave residue after you pull it off. It is easy to cut and stretch.Cons:I have a hell of a time to wrap true 3-dimensional objects such as the side mirrors. I don't care what youtube shows you (even by 3M themselves), there is NO WAY you can do the mirror housing perfectly. The film has good property of recovering and stretching, but the recovers too well under heat when it tends to shrink back to original size (or smaller size). It might look perfect right after you did it, but after a day parking outside under the side, the edge started to shrink and fold with "ears". 3M told you to pre-stretch the film before apply on mirror but still it's just B/S, it doesn't really work especially at the corners. The adhesive is relatively strong, but not strong enough to hold the film in place to prevent shrinkage and folds like the clear bra does.Summary:Perfect film for relatively flat surfaces like roof, hood, dash and other trim pieces w/ 2 dimensions, but not box-type object.

Awesome for all sorts of projects! One's imagination is the limit!
I recently got inspired to try working with vinyl wrapping and have bought several rolls of 3M 1080 Scotchprint from VIVID vinyl since I started. Its been pretty fantastic so far! I really enjoy working with the stuff. Took a little bit of practice to get the hang of warming it up just the right amount once you've deciding on a positioning of the wrap. It's not very difficult. Its definitely possible to lightly stick and then lift up and move the wrap until you get it just right. (just don't get any foreign matter stuck to the adhesive side or youll end up with bubbles that you cannot squeegee out) Then applying the right amount of heat allows you to manipulate the wrap around corners quite nicely and adhere permanently.I do recommend using the primer pens (or can) that can be found on Amazon as well. They really help keep the edges down for some projects.I'll include a few pictures of some of my recent projects that I used the "carbon fiber" wrap on.

Real carbon fiber feel and look
I ordered this to update my Model S interior trim. The 60" x 24" is plenty for the dash trim and cup holder area. I had about a 24x24" section left over. I removed the trim from the car in order to work on it. However, I'm sure applying while the trim is in place will give satisfactory results.Very easy to work with. It feels strong but forgiving. Watch some videos on how to apply vinyl and you're good to go.Material has a raised (3D) feel to it. Feels like real raw carbon fiber. Very cool. Be careful when using a squeegee. If you dont have a soft edge against it, you may scratch it.Very happy with results.

Looks great.
This is a review of the 3M Carbon fiber 1080 wrap and some notes about it's application. The product is exactly as described, it looks great, is tough and is not to bad to apply, but be prepared to take your time if you are dealing with complex curves even if they are shallow. Flat surfaces are much easier. The CF wrap is far more difficult to apply than either the matte finish or gloss finish 1080 wraps. I would suggest buying some extra and practicing, even if only a small amount. Also, look all the You Tube videos you can locate, it will be worth your time. You will learn how much heat you can use and how much the product stretches.
